Joe: The Home Ministry is staging a ‘sandiwara' in investigating Suara Perkasa . This ministry does the bidding of Umno to issue a publication licence for Perkasa to spread racism and hatred. Umno plays its race card, relying on its mouthpiece, Utusan Malaysia , and now augmented by Suara Perkasa , to stoke racial tension and rally the Malays to back Umno.

The government pretends to act against Suara Perkasa for calling for the arrest of Wee Ka Siong under the ISA and let the tabloid off scot free, while it suspends the renewal of Suara Keadilan's printing licence for questioning the government.

Umno is a sinister Jekyll and Hyde organisation, inciting the Malays to hatred while pretending to call for multiracial unity.

Teh: I am sure that MCA Youth will be very satisfied with the explanation and action taken by the Home Ministry. Other news media can now have headlines such as ‘Call for ISA arrest of MCA Youth leader helped sell Suara Perkasa '.

Freemsia: If this is not double standards, I really do not know what is. Nothing new here. First the double standards on the cow-head incident . Now this.

Tan Kian Khim: Here's what most probably happened: Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein invited Suara Perkasa chief editor Daud Ibrahim over for tea, had a good laugh with him and gave Daud a congratulatory slap on the back.

He then told him: "Hey, we need to get our stories straight: when you walk out of here you have to tell everyone that I 'rapped' you, okay?"

Amaso: Suara Keadilan has been suspended over its Felda report, a commercial issue, while Suara Perkasa has been let off for fanning racial issue that threatens national security which is the main role of Home Ministry. If this is not double standard, I don't know what is! However, there is still hope in the ballot box come General Election 13.

Lim Chong Leong: It shows the real engineers of May 13, 1969, is Umno. And they are doing it again. In fact, every time they feel they are losing their relevance, they'll pull one stunt like this. Strike fear into 'your own' people with the bogeyman of a different skin colour or religion and 'your' people will unite against 'them'.

This is Hitler's formula and it still works to this day because people are generally stupid when it comes to skin colour and religion.

'Suara Keadilan' to defy Home Ministry directive

Joe: In tussling with the Home Ministry over its licence to publish Suara Keadilan , PKR should tread very carefully. This BN-Umno regime is without credibility and is rapidly losing its moral authority. It can only fall back on the law.

It is unnecessary for PKR to challenge and break the law to force the hand of the authorities over its publication licence. Let the people see the arrogance and injustice of this regime. There are alternative ways to bypass the problem.

If our sick democracy breaks down and our parliamentary system fails, our country may plunge into chaos, like what happened in Thailand recently. This scenario will play right into the hands of the Umno ruling clique and its right-wing allies, who are waiting to declare emergency rule and remain in power indefinitely without having to call for any election.

These scoundrels love to play with matches. Why give them the opportunity?

Magnus: Don't support the flawed logic and implicit bad intention in the implementation of the PPPA (Printing Presses and Publications Act) by the Umno/BN government. The PPPA originates from the colonial Printing Ordinance Act 1948 as amended in 1971 and 1984. Most reasonable people understand there is no need for such legislation to exist in Malaysia today, especially when its purpose is to override the fundamental freedom of speech granted in Article 10.

But Pakatan must fight any such bad legislation carefully and smartly in the right way if it wishes to avoid the pitfall of "throwing out the good legal baby with the bad Umno/BN bathwater" and hence, create intractable problems for itself in future. Suara Keadilan , Harakah , The Rocket and those ‘MSM free press' controlled by Umno/BN are all political publications, i.e. political propaganda, and are not what we call the free press.

Khairy taunts police over Raja Petra

Mangodurian: The Malaysian police has no jurisdiction in the UK. Neither would Scotland Yard ever entertain a political refugee being arrested in the UK to some Third World represive regime like Bolehland. If the Malaysian Police Force (PDRM) tries anything in the UK, they will effectively be committing a crime in the UK.

Habib RAK: Khairy, you cannot use good relationship with Scotland Yard to arrest and extradite Raja Petra Kamarudin to Malaysia. You can only do so by legal process. This is not like Kalimullah Hassan doing you a favour to buy ECM Libra, or Umno doing you a favour to make you Umno Youth deputy chief during your father-in-law's time as PM.

Pensive: KJ, are you asking the British police to commit an illegal act for the sake of friendship with Malaysia? The ends do not justify the means, or is it the nature of politics and some politicians to do otherwise?
