Both Star and New Straits Times led with the apparent murder-suicide of former Permatang assemblyperson Abdul Aziz Mohd Noh, who was found dead in his car with a bullet in his head, alongside his aide Siti Rohana Ismail who was shot twice.

Star also front-paged news that an unnamed Malaysian businessman is set to buy over English football club Sheffield United.

New Straits Times lauds the government for their speedy reaction to the escape of 20 Afghan detainees from the KLIA immigration depot.

To date, 20 officers from the depot have been suspended, and the director generals of the Home Ministry and Immigration Department face possible sanctions.

Utusan Malaysia sighed relief over the cancellation of 'visas on arrival' for Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi citizens, as it says Malaysians are tired of the influx of migrant workers to the country.

Berita Harian chides the immigration for the escape of the 20 Afghan detainees and advises them to learn from the experience of the Prison Department.
