PKR de-facto leader Anwar Ibrahim is keeping everyone guessing over whether or not he will contest the party presidency during the party polls in November.

At a press conference today, Anwar downplayed the matter, stating that he was unaware if he would be nominated at all for the post.

"I have not thought about it, and none of my colleagues at PKR have told me, 'Anwar ( centre in photo below ), you have to contest'. It is only outsiders that keep asking," he said.

NONE The post is currently held by his wife Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, whom Anwar jokingly said is getting more support than him.

"Azizah has more support than me anyway... She is doing a good job so why should I disturb her?" he said, smiling.

On another matter, the Opposition Leader assured reporters that neither PKR nor Pakatan Rakyat are behind the supposed ‘alternate constitution’, as claimed by Perak mufti Harussani Zakaria.

“I am telling you this during Ramadan. I have never heard, seen or read this (alternate constitution).

“I can tell you that I had chaired a Pakatan Rakyat meeting whereby (PAS president) Hadi Awang and (DAP Parliamentary Leader) Lim Kit Siang and I signed a document to vow that we will uphold the principles of the constitution.

“It could be the Malayan Communist Party, who knows,” he said.

He added that in fact, there is nothing wrong with proposing a new constitution or amendments to the existing one.

“It’s a free country. But before we can decide if it’s good or bad we have to know what it is…If it says all Malays should be dumped at sea then we have to go against it.

“If it is true that there is a ‘constitution’ which will do the country harm then the police should investigate,” he said.

Harussani had, earlier this week ,claimed that he knows of three different ‘alternate constitution’s had been drafted, and that they seek to revoke the special position of the Malays and Islam.
