PKR's Bukit Bintang division Youth chief Rahman Hakeem has lashed out at the division's former chairperson, Mahmood Abdullah, who quit the party to join Umno yesterday, as "incompetent".

Mahmood and 15 committee members from the division, who were reported to have handed over their application forms to Federal Territory Umno deputy chairperson Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin, had said PKR "has no focus".

However, Rahman said Mahmood left on "his own accord, without anyone else" and that the rest of the committee was intact.

In actual fact, he said, Mahmood had "opted out" of the division and was transferred to the PKR's Subang division in June and since then had no longer been the Bukit Bintang division chief.

"Who are the 15? The deputy chairperson, the three vice chairpersons, the secretary and the Youth chief (referring to himself) are all still with the party," said Rahman, who added that Mahmood had not been performing as division chief for more than two years.

"We rejected him because he was not competent, and he felt threatened. Mahmood had also not called for our monthly meetings for the past two years and did not organise any activities for the division."

Rahman said Mahmood had even "sabotaged" the division by preventing it from attending the party's 2009 national congress in Kelantan in May.

"We had our division annual general meeting in March but he didn't send the minutes of the meeting to the supreme council," he complained, which was why the party officials could not attend the congress.

Asked if these complaints were forwarded to the PKR headquarters, Rahman said: "Everything that we are unhappy about is in the minutes of our AGM... but the report was never submitted."
