MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek  turned the tables today on sacked 988FM deejay Jamaluddin Ibrahim and chief executive Wong Lai Ngo, ticking them off for blaming his party for their predicament.

NONE Dr Chua ( left ) repeated that he is adamant over a ‘no interference' policy by MCA in the running of party-owned newspaper The Star and all its subsidiaries, which include the radio station.

He denied he was aware of the report allegedly lodged against Jamaluddin's ‘Hi Malaysia' morning show by senior RTM official Yap Shy Chuan with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

Dr Chua also distanced himself from claims that Yap, who was appointed in May by RTM to oversee Chinese language programmes, is an MCA Youth member.

"Nobody made any report about The Star or 988 to me. They (Jamaluddin and Wong) should know why the MCMC came after them," he told reporters at a brief press conference today.

"They (Jamaluddin and Wong) have nothing to do with MCA, it's more to MCMC so don't put the blame on MCA, please," he said, looking slightly annoyed.

Yesterday, Jamaluddin and Wong were officially sacked by the station for breaching licence conditions set by the MCMC during Jamaluddin's Aug 13 show.

988 radio wong lai ngo sacked Wong also claimed that she was asked on July 28 by newly-appointed Star Publications (M) Bhd chief operating officer Ho Kay Tat to resign following the change of guard in MCA's leadership.

The radio station is owned by Star Rfm, a subsidiary of Star Publications which in turn is owned by MCA's investment arm Huaren Holdings Bhd.

To this, Dr Chua insisted that neither he nor MCA will "interfere with ( The Star ), the same way I never interfere with 988(FM)".

"It has nothing to do with me... you people should go ask The Star management whether whatever Miss Wong says is true or not true.

"You cannot ask me because I don't get involved in the running (of the companies)," he told reporters.
