lim kit siang and unity talks parliament pc 250609 01 Saying this today, DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang ( right ) called on Muhyiddin to compute and declare how much money in salaries and allowances he would have to return to the Treasury as federal minister over the past 15 years, given that the Consolidated Fund from which ministers are paid their salaries and allowances includes taxes from  gambling activities.

Referring to Muhyiddin’s call on Sept 25 for the Penang government to heed to call of Penang Umno for it to "clarify" whether the poverty eradication programme it organises stemmed from gambling businesses, Kit Siang said Muhyiddin had resorted to "irresponsible politicking" in aiding and abetting Penang Umno’s "political desperado" tactics.

Muhyiddin had also called on the Penang government led by DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng to answer allegations by Umno Youth over the state government's financial sources.

The DPM had said Muslims would not want to be associated with Penang's poverty eradication programmes if gambling money was involved.

“We want an answer from Lim. If the money is from a forbidden source, Muslims will have no part in it," Muhyiddin had told reporters.

News reports that day quoted Umno Youth as claiming that funds from gambling activities were used to finance poverty eradication programmes in Penang.
