The trial of a police corporal charged with causing the death of teenager Aminulrasyid Amzah, which began at the Shah Alam Sessions Court today, was told that 17 spent bullets were retrieved from the crime scene.

Forensic police also recovered two live bullets from the roads where the car chase took place.

The spent bullets were retrieved by forensic police between the road stretch from Bulatan Kayangan and Jalan 11/2, where Aminulrasyid was found dead.

According to forensic photographer Corporal Mokhtar Hussin, most of the spent bullets were retrieved two days later on April 28, 2010.

"One spent shell was discovered the night of the incident. Another was found about 11am on April 28, while the rest were found (on the stretch) from the roundabout to Jalan 11/2,” he said.

Two live bullets were also found along the way, near a petrol station.

Mokhtar, who was the fourth prosecution witness, told the court that he was instructed by Chief Inspector Mazli Yusoff to take pictures of the spent and live bullets.

It is learnt that the police inventory keeper will be brought in to identify the weapon, which is believed to be a Heckler & Koch MP5 submachine gun.

Victim shot on the head

Another witness, police photographer Lance Corporal Saifulizam Abdul Hamid, testified that he was tasked with taking pictures of the post-mortem performed on Aminulrasyid.

"I was there at the Klang Hospital, on the afternoon of April 26, between 3.15pm and 5.30pm... I took pictures of the injury to the victim's head," he said.

Jenain Subi, 48, is charged with culpable homicide not amounting to the murder of 15-year-old Aminulrasyid at Jalan Tarian 11/2, Section 11, Shah Alam, between 1.10am and 2am on April 26, 2010.

NONE The charge carries a maximum of 30 years’ jail and a fine on conviction.

Jenain ( left ) is represented by counsel Salim Bashir and M Sathimulum, while Sangeet Kaur Deo is holding a watching brief for Aminulrasyid's family.

According to DPP Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar, a total of five witnesses may testify in the trial today, which is expected to continue for the next 11 days.

The first witness to take the stand was Lance Corporal Mohd Sabri Salleh, 30.

He testified that he was on duty at the Bahagian Gerakan in Shah Alam from midnight to 8am on April 26.

About 1.45am, Mohd Sabri said, he received an all-points bulletin from patrol car SL589 that a white Proton Iswara was speeding and refused to stop.

He said the patrol car had asked for assistance to stop the Iswara car.

azlan "Several minutes later, I received a call from patrol car SL614 that it was chasing the Iswara car from the Concorde Hotel to the Kayangan roundabout and heading back."

"I called the officer in SL614, Corporal Jenain (the accused) on his handphone. He informed me that the Iswara car had gone out of control and the driver injured at Jalan Makyong 11/2."

Mohd Sabri said Jenain asked him to call for an ambulance as the Iswara driver was hurt.

The second witness, detective Lance Corporal Ahmad Zamzami Abd Wahab, 25, said he took 41 pictures at the crime scene.

"I took pictures of the road, the broken trees, car, the spent bullets, pictures inside the car, and the victim," he said.

Ahmad Zamzami also told the court that he took pictures of the vehicle's interior, including shots of the back of the driver’s seat where the bullet struck, the spoiler at the back of the car and the right rear rim.

The witness said he also took pictures of bullet marks on the car boot, rear signal lamp, exhaust, rear plate and  mudguard.

Ahmad Zamzami said the police found a parang hidden under the front passenger seat of the white Proton Iswara.

“I took photographs of the parang which was retrieved from there,” he said.

National outcry

NONE The sudden death of the teenager had caused a nationwide uproar over the use of firearms by police and resulted in the Home Ministry  reviewing the Inspector-General's Standing Orders (IGSO).

A special panel headed by the Deputy Home Minister Abu Seman Yusop was also set up investigate the incident.

It was reported that Aminulrasyid and his friend, Azamuddin Omar, 15, were returning from a restaurant in Section 7 on that fateful night. After overtaking a police car, they were pursued by the cops and multiple shots were fired .

The car eventually came to a stop on the shoulder of the road, and Aminulrasyid was found dead in the driver’s seat.
