LONDON - Britain has revised its travel advice for northeast and east Malaysia urging people to take account of the threat posed by a Philippines-based terrorist group.
Britons were warned to exercise "extreme caution" if visiting northeast Sabah, from Kudat eastwards, because of the risk of kidnapping by the Abu Sayyaf Muslim extremist organisation.
The Foreign Office said anyone wishing to visit isolated resorts on, and islands off, north east Sabah - from Kudat eastwards to Tawau - should also exercise extreme caution.
Abu Sayyaf has been blamed for a range of attacks and Washington has claimed it has links with Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda group. - AFP
