Will the winds of change blow in Johor?

vox populi small thumbnail 'The wind of change blowing across the other states may be slow over Johor but it is blowing, all right. Just look at Tenang - 5,500 majority in 2004, 2,500 majority in 2008.'

Tenang before the storm

MrM: Im not in the slightest in favour of communal politics, but it is unfortunately the way of our nation. Given that and the fact that Tenang is 51 percent non-Malay, I think it would be more appropriate for DAP to be contesting this seat instead. Or at least a moderate from PKR. If PAS insists on contesting, they should field a moderate person - the likes of Khalid Samad or Mohammad Nizar Jamaludin.

Armour Man: The wind of change blowing across the other states may be slow over Johor but it is blowing, all right. Just look at Tenang - 5,500 majority in 2004, 2,500 majority in 2008. 2011? Come on, people of Tenang, determine the direction of your state.

Singa Pura Pura: For a harrowing half-a-century, the MCA, MIC and Gerakan have betrayed the Chinese and Indians in Malaysia by selling them out to Umno for a fistful of secondary ministerial positions and other advantages. Like a feudal king, Umno feasted on the bacon, whilst the Chinese, Indians and the common Malays, like jesters, were thrown the spat-out rind.

The political aspirants within the MCA, MIC and Gerakan must emancipate themselves, and their communities, from this whirring wheel of betrayal and traitorship. Umno's political, societal, economic and educational enslavement of Malaysians must be cut down and hacked off. The political parang of deliverance is in the hands of the MCA, MIC and Gerakan.

Do an Anakin, ditch the emperor!

Proarte: If Pakatan Rakyat wonders why it is floundering and is in 'rigor mortis' and unable to do anything about the worsening gross abuse of power by Umno, then they only need to look at themselves. They are the problem.

They do not perform as a united front and will at the drop of a hat play to the gallery and contradict its 'Joint Manifesto'. Yet they expect the rakyat's support. Why should they expect support when the rakyat's ideals are betrayed at every turn? Ultimately it is a question of trust, and there is distrust because Pakatan members are playing fast and loose with the rakyat's expectations.

People vote over bread and butter issues such as financial security, education, personal security, which includes religious and cultural security.

Rolls-Royce: Please Pakatan Rakyat component parties, go for common grounds. Dogmatic ideologies and narrow-minded bigotry have never change things; history has shown enough of this. Can you for once think of doing what is for the common interests of the people?

Stop talking about the Islamic state or secularism or racial differences. They will not make an iota of difference to the people's life. Go for jugular - fight against corruption, abuse of power, wastage and incompetency. Regain for this country the efficiency, good governance, and competency we so sorely need.

If the country is governed properly, surely we have more wealth and income to share; surely we can do more for the poor Malays and other communities and surely we can also do more for our spiritual needs.

Get into power, and use the power for the good for this country. If you have no power, you can talk till the cows come home and it is not going to make an iota of difference.

Jiminy Qrikert: Chua Soi Lek's bastion? MCA's stronghold? This by-election will certainly be a measure of how much CSL is rejected by the Chinese community. I doubt anyone can honestly read this as an opportunity for a Chinese show of support for a man who has betrayed his wife and family, but still offered himself as leader to the party.

So in one final stroke, in one final selfish act of self-gratification, CSL single-handedly destroyed any respect Chinese Malaysian had for MCA. A good 70 percent of Chinese spit on MCA. If that number holds true in Tenang as well, MCA is gone.

Umno-BN is as good as gone too as both Chinese and Indians today will trust PAS more than Umno while an increasing number of Malays have come to understand they have been played out by Umno. In fact, many Malays trust DAP more than they do Umno.

Jay Tan: Mohd Saim Siran is the best bet for PAS as Tenang people are familiar with him for years...

DAP fines MP over 'rowdy' behaviour

Malaysiasakit: Listen, Lim Lip Eng. I am your constituent and I voted for you. I voted for you because your party represent change for the better. Instead you behave like a spoilt brat in your party convention. I am deeply disappointed with your behaviour. If you stand for office at the next election, you can forget my family's votes.

DAP needs to get the message that it is not riding on a wave of unwavering support. A lot of votes are given out of sheer frustration with BN and DAP should not take things for granted. Believe me, it is not always a case of voters voting for a tree stump, a dead dog or cat out of spite.

DAP ought to know they are on a tight rope and when voters realise what a jackass they have put in public office, the next polls will be different.

Patriot: Lim Lip Eng is a great disgrace to the DAP and the august house of Parliament. Being a MP and a lawyer, he should know how to behave himself. I won't vote for such an MP. Sometimes voters have a dilemma - do we vote for a corrupt BN candidate or a half-baked candidate like Lim Lip Eng.

Being a LGE (Lim Guan Eng) loyalist, he was given a RM500 fine as a token sum. Other non-LGE loyalists will be suspended. This is justice, DAP-style.

Anonymous: Irrespective of Lim Lip Eng being a rowdy one, if he is still fielded as a candidate for the next 13th GE, my vote still goes to Pakatan, however gentleman his BN opponent maybe.

That's the direction we need to have, i.e. overwhelmingly voted for Pakatan so to ensure the rotten Umno/BN regime is ended once and for all.

As to the quality of individual candidate of Pakatan, let MCLM (Malaysian Civil Liberties Movement) deals with Pakatan. I have no doubt on the sincerity of MCLM in helping Malaysia to have credible MPs through Pakatan. A gentleman in Umno/BN is as good as zero.

Taib family cashing in NCR land worth RM90 mil?

ABIL: Is there no end to politicians ripping off poor rakyat? Why don't these politicians give land to the landless so as to enrich everyone. They should implement Felda schemes in Sarawak if they want to increase palm oil acreage.

Gunner: I failed to understand why the majority of Sarawakians are still supportive of Abdul Taib Mahmud despite all kinds of wrongdoings committed by him. May I ask Sarawakians, why do you still allow this old man to rule your state?

Changeagent: In all seriousness, the MACC does not have any jurisdiction to investigate a corruption case involving RM90 million. They are only empowered to probe cases under RM2,400.

Hua Zong votes to abort Suqiu 2.0 project

MySecret: It's obvious most of these members are business people and afraid to spill their rice bowl. The proposals were for equality and to be treated as Malaysians. Stand up and have a backbone, why afraid to ask for your rights. You all came from China, is it ? Your mother or sister are prostitutes, is it? You love being labelled ‘pendatang', is it ?

Mikey: Now you know why many, including me, never join any Chinese associations. In fact, I detest them. Most of the time, they are helmed by slick Chinese businessmen who have no scruples. They too talk about 1Malaysia but would call themselves ‘Chinese first'.

Chipmunk: If Hua Zong is not going to have any backbone to stand firm against the cruel Umno regime, than there is nothing stopping Umno. Remember that your community has the economic standing and Umno is riding on your financial capabilities.

We are not asking for special rights but the rakyat want justice for all Malaysians.
