The Perak public accounts committee (PAC) targets that at least 75 percent of the state government agencies will obtain four-star rating by 2011.

Its chairperson Raja Ahmad Zainuddin said they hoped more government agencies would achieve their administration targets next year.

"The PAC audit report tabled on Aug 3 was used by government agencies as a benchmark for efficiency of administration, setting procedures and to gauge the effectiveness of procedures set for the agencies," he told Bernama today.

Following the report, he said many improvements were carried out by the agencies including in terms of upgrading their administration.

He said the PAC audit report for 2006 and 2007 which were tabled at the state assembly sitting on Aug 3 revealed that 12 government agencies were rated four-star.

Raja Ahmad said the PAC was not a body that solely looked for faults, but it also acts to provide advice so that government agencies could operate smoothly and at the desired level.

Besides that, he said committee members would start to prepare the 2009 audit report next month.

"We have no idea what the performance of government agencies is like but we hope it shows progress and development," he added.

He said he was confident that each agency would be able to follow and manage themselves based on the previously-made plans.
