The Anwar Ibrahim sodomy trial will resume for the third week tomorrow with the cross-examination of ASP Fauziah Che Mat, a video and audio analyst.

selangor mb lawyer sankara nair pc 200209 02 Lawyer Sankara Nair ( right ) is expected to pose several questions to the 48-year-old Fauziah, regarding the CCTV recording dated June 26, 2008, which was played in court on Thursday.

Following Fauziah's testimony, a new formal witness from the cyber security firm will be called to verify the veracity of the CCTV recordings. He will be the eighth prosecution witness.

Possibly several staff from the Desa Damansara condominium will also be called in to provide testimony on the recording.

No direct link

Last week, the prosecution has build its case based on the testimony of chemist Nor Aidora Saedon and ASP Fauziah.

While both witnesses did not make a direct link to the opposition leader and Permatang Pauh MP, their testimony had shared some light, albeit in a controversial manner.

NONE Nor Aidora ( right ), a 38-year-old DNA analyst who was the prosecution's sixth witness testified the correspondence of "Male Y" , with the 10 DNA samples which she retrieved and tested from a mineral water bottle, Good Morning towel and a white toothbrush, given by the police.

Another chemist Dr Seah Lay Hong had on Tuesday testified that the "Male Y" semen and DNA was found on victim Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan's low rectal area , after a Hospital Kuala Lumpur doctor had swabbed the it.

Nor Aidora obtained the DNA samples, when she swabbed the towel, the handle and bristles of the toothbrush, the cap, mouth and the mineral water bottle itself. However, she did not obtain any DNA from two strands of hair.

On Thursday, ASP Fauziah testified that she was tasked by investigating officer DSP (now Superintendent) Jude Blacious Pereira to look for certain people in a closed circuit television recording which the police had apparently retrieved at the Desa Damansara condominium, the alleged sodomy scene on June 26, 2008

No identity revealed at condominium

Although Fauziah did not tell the identity of the persons she was tasked, it was apparent the focus was on what appeared to be on Anwar and the complainant Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan who arrived and left separately in two different vehicles

While the focus was on the two, it is interesting to note the presence of five other people including the owner of the condominium there that day.

Anwar's lawyers are not denying their client's presence at the Desa Damansara condominium but had always maintained an alibi that the politician was with some guests in a meeting and briefing session.

NONE Earlier in the week, Karpal had stole the thunder in the defence when in posing final questions to Seah ( left ), the senior lawyer had suggested Saiful to be a "passive homosexual" , following the presence of unidentified male DNA.

Ram Karpal suggested there the DNA evidence indicated that Saiful had sexual relations with several more men.

Ram had on Monday raised the issue of more mystery DNA found inside Saiful's anus which were not recorded resulting in the lawyer who is Karpal's son, to comment "It seems half a football team's DNA is found on Saiful but you chose not to report as it is detected on the underwear, trousers and B5 peri-anal area, and now B9."

The lawyer had also stumped Seah when he asked why were the semen stains found on Saiful's front portion of the underwear and not at the back, when it was suggested the perpetrator had ejaculated inside the complainant's anus.

This follows the "Male Y" DNA was also found on the lower front portion of Saiful's underwear.

The court was also treated with Nor Aidora's antics in court when her witty statements caught the Kuala Lumpur High Court judge Mohamad Zabidin Mohd Diah and Ram by surprise, and provided much laughter despite providing evidence on such a complex subject as DNA.

When asked on the possibility of the DNA which Nor Aidora retrieved from the towel could have a second person's DNA or the possibility it was contaminated , the 38-year-old master's graduate in Forensic DNA from Auckland University stood her ground.

It remains to be seen whether the prosecution will call the five other people who were said to be with Anwar in the condominium besides Saiful.

One of the five includes the owner who has two units on the same floor.
