Sex video: Why the cloak-and-dagger approach?

your say 'What is this country coming to when politicians try to oust each other by showing videos which were obviously set up to entrap the victims?'

'Blue Monday' at Carcosa Seri Negara

Singa Pura Pura: This sex video is a direct retaliation for the Altantuya Shaariibuu roadshow. The difference between the two is that in one, there is no victim who has suffered any injury, whilst in the other, a woman was murdered and a cover-up was contrived to protect the possible parties involved - which contrivance necessitated all the apparatus of high government and executive power.

Throughout the Altantuya affair, right down to Sodomy I and II, and now this video - there runs a strict and common machination. The apparatus of government is somewhat at play. Even in their ‘un-involvement', there is an insidious involvement.

Laws have certainly been breached in the possession and screening of the video to an audience, and yet it has been allowed, if not sanctioned, to run by under the very nose of the police and the government - and in Carcosa Seri Negara.

Though this be madness, yet there is method in it. And in the aftermath of the video presentation, the prime minister is seen and heard defending the home minister and the police, vindicating them from the scheme.

But is the prime minister and his government and his police exonerated for allowing the show to go on to completion? One can smile and smile and be a villain. But beneath the seeming reticence of a dignified statesman, there lives a little Gaddafi.

There comes a certain point, within Malaysian realities, when the sexual health of the opposition leader becomes relatively irrelevant in the wider context of our yearn for a government that does not engender corruption, mismanagement, abuse of power, racial disintegration and religious animosity. This video presentation, if anything at all, has intensified our desire for an alternative to the present government.

Onyourtoes: ‘Tipping Point', one of the international best sellers, shows how little things can make a big difference. We Malaysians are indeed distracted by little things but the consequence could be fatal.

These guys who created all these nonsense are being advised by very well-read people, trust me. Suddenly, we have forgotten there is a pending election in Sarawak which may well decide the destiny of Sarawak and Malaysia in general. How endemic corruption, abuse of power, ineptness and wastage are put on the back burners.

Suddenly the primary focus of Malaysians, journalists included, is fixed on one dark-skinned person romping a fair-skinned prostitute - I believe it must a fantasy of many of those depraved people involved in this scheme.

Clearwater: Disgusting gutter tactics in the mode of BN-Umno political covert ops. Poor Malaysia. To be afflicted with such types of dirty politics inspired low life-forms such as Datuk T.

Kyw: Even if the man is Anwar Ibrahim, Datuk T should be fined or imprisoned for showing pornography in public. It appears that ignorance of law is good excuse in this country. In fact, even those reporters who participated in viewing the film can be fined. My suggestion is that ‘General Principles of Law' should be taught in schools at the Form 4 or 5 level.

KJ Lim: Section 292 of Penal Code: (a) Whoever sells, lets to hire, distributes, publicly exhibits or in any manner puts into circulation, or for purposes of sale, hire, distribution, public exhibition or circulation makes, produces or has in his possession any obscene book, pamphlet, paper, drawing, painting representation or figure or any other obscene object whatsoever shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years, or with fine, or both.

Malaysiawatch4.blogspot: What is politics in Malaysia coming to? I suggest the PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) should ask the Carcosa management to explain why they allowed their premises to be used for such a viewing. That ‘Datuk T' fellow should be investigated for organising such a screening and the police should investigate if the tapes are genuine.

Tailek: What is this country coming to when politicians try to oust each other by showing porno movies of sex scenes which were obviously set up to entrap the victims for purely political motives?

Decent and credible politicians and political parties debate with their opponents on matters and issues of public interest and see who comes out on top, not by trying to force politicians out with this kind of smut.

BN and especially scum like this Datuk T should just grow up and get back to the business of governing for the interest of the rakyat. Shame on BN.

Rakyat Malaysia: BN, I dare you to publish the video on all media in Malaysia and the whole world if you are so brave, not only Umno-controlled media.

Observor: Either it is Anwar or it is not. There are no two ways about it. Anwar's enemies could have got a look-alike who acted and played his 'act' as instructed. The intentions are clear - to get rid of Anwar in the political arena once and for all.

On Anwar's side, he can clear his name by telling where he was on that day and time. If he has a solid alibi, then I rest my case.

S Vellu: So Carcosa has become a porn theatre. Why are the police quiet? The law states that no premises can be used to show porn, yet Carcosa allowed it. Why hasn't the police acted against these people? But of course, they will take action against the suspect in the video instead.

Ghkok: Thirteen years ago, they arrested him using a team of commandos, they brought him to Bukit Aman, and they tortured him. He was persecuted. He was dragged through the kangaroo courts based on concocted charges and he was imprisoned for six years.

The Federal Court reversed the decision several years after. Amnesty International considered him a prisoner of conscience. The international community condemned the actions of the Malaysian government.

Today, they are still at it. They are still torturing him, undermining him, persecuting him with all sorts of ridiculous charges and now, this video. Where is the human decency? Is there no limit to the persecution of another person? Is there no limit to cruelty? Is there no limit to vindictiveness? Are we humans?

X-umno: This is nothing more than to tarnish Anwar name. Plan A has failed and now they go for plan B. From man to woman. Perhaps next time round, if plan B fails, they will go for plan C. Perhaps with lembu (cow). This how low some people can go.
