Two individuals involved in the screening of the sex tape at Carcosa Seri Negara have denied that they were arrested by the police.

When contacted today, both former Malacca chief minister Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik and businessman Shazryl Eskay Abdullah said they were at home.

English daily Star had published a report on its website today alleging that it believed that the duo had been arrested in connection to the case.

azlan Police are investigating the issue based on section 292 of the Penal Code for distribution of pornographic or obscene material.

When told about the Star report, Rahim expressed shock.

"What? I do not know I am being arrested. I am presently at home. I only went to the police last night to assist investigations, and after they recorded my statement, I went back.

"There is no mention of arrest. Probably they ( Star ) thought the giving of statement last night was an arrest. I do not know. I am at home," he said.

Last night, Rahim and Eskay were quizzed at the Bukit Aman national police headquarters between 5pm to about 9.45pm.

They handed a copy of the video and a watch allegedly worn by the male in the sex clip.

Eskay: Only signed witness statement

Meanwhile, Eskay told Malaysiakini that the only document signed in Bukit Aman last night was the witness statement made under Section 112 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

“(Then) I handed the video recording and that was it. Rahim left earlier after his statement was recorded. I left after handing those items for police investigation.

"I do not know much over police procedures as I do not often deal with them (police). However, I do not think I was arrested. I did not sign any documents other than my statement.

“I am presently at home and was sleeping when you called me. I have a bad flu as a result of yesterday's downpour. Sorry if I sound a bit groggy," he said.

He added that initially he and his cohorts had urged the authorities to set up a royal commission of inquiry on the video, but now that the video is in the hands of the police, he would leave it to them to conduct investigations. 

PKR's Sungai Petani parliamentarian Johari Abdul has also told Malaysiakini that he was not one of the two men reportedly arrested. 

NONE Johari was shown the video clip by both Rahim and Eskay on Monday.

Meanwhile, Chinese dailies today reported that a third member of the 'Datuk T' group, Shuib Lazim ( right ), was brought from his home in Sungai Petani, Kedah to Bukit Aman. 

According to Shuib's wife, police came in three patrol cars late this evening. It is believed that he was questioned in Bukit Aman.
