Police are trying to trace the uploaders of a clip shown on popular websites yesterday of the sex video featuring someone resembling opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.

NONE Deputy Inspector General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar ( left ) said today the investigation to trace the uploaders was begun with the cooperation of the Communication and Multimedia Commission shortly after word was received that a clip of the video was being shown on Youtube and other websites.

"However, we have yet to identify the uploaders," he told reporters at Bukit Aman, Kuala Lumpur.

No one has made a police report on the showing of the clip, Khalid said in response to a question, and added: "It is not necessary for a report to be lodged for an investigation to be carried out.

What is important is for us to find out who are responsible (for

uploading the clip)."

The clip is the second from the sex video to be shown on the Internet. The first was uploaded on Youtube on April 4 .

The same people are believed to be responsible for the two clips, both 1.47 seconds long.

The investigators are now looking at several new angles, Khalid said, but did not know when they would complete their job.

The sex video surfaced on March 21 when it was shown to several

representatives of the media, courtesy of a trio who later revealed themselves to be businessman Shazryl Eskay Abdullah, former Melaka chief minister Rahim Tamby Chik and former treasurer of the right wing group Perkasa Shuib Lazim.

Anwar has denied that he was the man in the video.
