Since its establishment, Umno has been the only party committed to fighting for and uniting the Malays, Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin said.

He said the party's history had also proved it was established with the sole aim of fighting for the Malays as a whole, and not in the interest of certain individuals.

Opening the Dungun Umno Youth delegation meeting here today, Khairy said Umno's struggles differed from that of other political parties which claimed to be representing the Malays, while in reality, they were only creating disharmony in the community.

Present were Dungun Umno chief Dr Rosli Mat Hassan, his deputy, Za'abar Mohd Adib, and Terengganu Umno Youth chief Saiful Bahri Baharudin.

Mukhriz: Regain support of the young

In Kulim, Umno divisional leaders have been urged to give more space and opportunities so that young people can be involved in the party's transformation process.

This was essential for Umno and BN to regain support of young people in future.

"Rejection by young people at the last general election means that we have to rejuvenate Umno," he said when opening Kulim/Bandar Baharu Wanita, Youth and Puteri Umno divisional meetings.

Mukhriz said Umno should take more interesting approaches to regain support of the young so that it is not seen as a party for old people.

Umno leaders should fight for issues of the young like unemployment, housing, education and cost of living.

The deputy international trade and industry minister also launched the division's 'Program Gelombang Merah' (Red Wave Programme).
