'Truth is not what Umno seeks. It's seeking to create trouble. Umno wants to teach Malaysians a lesson that its ‘ketuanan' is not to be challenged.'

TI-M head: No pact for Christian state

Cannon: Don't underestimate what a cornered Umno is capable of doing. The nasty and brutish characters controlling the party will cook up violence to stay in power.

Malaysians can fight them not on the streets, but with information. Expose Umno's evil dealings and scheming. Tell the truth. Counter the lies and propaganda of the BN-controlled mainstream press and broadcast media. Use the power of the Internet to spread the information. Talk to your friends, colleagues and neighbours one-on-one.

Umno fears the power of the people and is all out to cause racial polarisation in order to keep the people divided. Truth is not what Umno seeks. It's seeking to create trouble. Umno wants to teach Malaysians a lesson that its ‘ketuanan' is not to be challenged.

In the primordial minds of the Umno warlords, the mandate to rule is their prerogative. These brutes will brook no challenge to their hegemony by another leader. Hence, Umno and its lackeys are all out to smash Pakatan Rakyat, using fabrications, lies, smears, just about anything to stop Anwar Ibrahim from leading the opposition.

Christians are caught in the crossfire. They're threatened at the pain of bloodshed to vote for the Umno-controlled BN. The Christian state controversy boils down to this - Christians, unlike the Umno desperados, don't look to human alliances for their security. God is their refuge and strength.

Christian worthy of their calling, will not play up to Umno. They will not be threatened. They will vote according to their conscience as responsible citizens. What can men do to us?

Rayfire: Transparency International's Paul Low, thanks for clarifying despite being rather late.

The issue in this case is not the meeting itself but the inaction of people in power to reprimand Utusan Malaysia , Perkasa and the two bloggers who had intentionally publicised this highly seditious news and their denial of the seriousness of their act.

Inaction will lead to more people coming up with similar claims. Can you, Paul Low, do something to convince the people in power to take action? Otherwise, there is no point voicing it out now.

Loyal Malaysian: Paul Low, it does not matter that you can vouch as a fact that the ‘Christian Malaysia' is a non-event.

The Umnoputras are more interested in fanning the flames of religious bigotry. They are more interested in getting political mileage from it among those unthinking Muslims who are readers of their Utusan mouthpiece.

Geronimo: Going by de facto law minister Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz's comments on Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali, I feel it is time for us to defend ourselves by whatever means possible.

With a carte blanche given to Ibrahim Ali, he is now capable of doing anything that would be against national interests. After all, the statements made by various people including Paul Low denying that there was a conspiracy to turn the country into a Christian nation and a lunch hosted by the prime minister with church leaders, this bone head still continues to rile up the Malay community as though the issue is for real.

So since the authorities do not bother taking any action against him, we have no choice but to defend ourselves against this whacko.

1Malaysian: First they came for the Indians and Hindraf. And we kept quiet. It was only them. Then they went after the Chinese in Sarawak. And we kept quiet. It was only them. Now they come for the Christians. And we keep quiet. It's only them. Tomorrow when they come for us, will there be anybody to speak up? Or is it just only me left?

Goliath: Assuming, and I am just assuming, if for some reason, someone, out of ignorance, during the pastors' forum wrongly said or prayed that he wishes to see Malaysia becoming a Christian country and to see a Christian PM, what does that mean?

Can the irresponsible blogs and newspapers thus draw a blunt conclusion that this is the view of all Christians and the Christian organisations in Malaysia? The answer is an obvious ‘no'.

Firstly, one person's voice cannot represent the whole population, and secondly, Christians are a minority in Malaysia, there is no way such a conspiracy can become a reality, let alone thinking about it.

Having said that, I still choose to believe that my assumption is wrong because I know true Christians would not make such an irresponsible statement. They are all peace-loving people and always thank God for putting them in a country like Malaysia.

Avatar_2397: Enough already of this non-issue. The real issue is Utusan was totally unprofessional and reckless in regurgitating unsubstantiated accusations in two blogs by anonymous people, and did not even do the most basic checks to verify the accuracy of the information before publishing the news.

Mirror on the Wall: The word of one humble truthful God-fearing man may not be accepted by Utusan or the Muslim brethren. But I know it is acceptable by God. Good on you, brother Paul.

The world will shun and hate you for the speaking the truth but at the end of the day, you answer to the Almighty and have done the right thing. If they want to believe a lie that they created, let them remain fools.

Anonymous_3f1f: All you commentators can talk and talk until the cows come home. The actual reason is not about a Christian PM or turning the country into a Christian state.

Everyone knows, including those troublemakers, that it is impossible to do so. The actual reason is they tried to use race and religion to gain support from the Malays. This is an outdated tactic and is no longer workable.
