Hindraf Makkal Shakti takes dispute to court
Lim Chong Leong: What are Hindraf's chances of success in 1Malaysia taking up court action against the Registrar of Societies, an administrative wing of Umno, in court, which is Umno's persecution wing?
When Makkal Sakthi ‘Celup' applied for registration, they got it overnight. But when real Hindraf applies, they get rejected.
Disgusted: Hindraf, the government need not approve your application because they know you all are a bunch of loose cannons who will not hesitate to shoot Pakatan Rakyat without thinking and thereby help them to get the Indian votes as you did in the last few by-elections, especially in Hulu Selangor where MIC nullified your influence amongst Indians.
It looks like your influence amongst Indians is waning and therefore BN does not need you. Look how quickly they registered Makkal Sakthi Party which became turncoats within your ranks. PM Najib Razak even helped them to officially launch the party.
Your only hope is to lend a helping hand to make Pakatan gain the federal government, then you can demand what you want for Indians within reasons. Don't hope for much from BN, unless you join them. Then again, they may not make much concessions for you as you go to them in weakness.
Gordon Gecko: I was surprised to see Makkal Sakthi ‘Celup's' new spanking office located in Klang. It's right opposite the ACS secondary school along Jalan Raya Barat. There is no need to guess who is paying for the rental and extensive renovation. All courtesy of 1SugarDaddy Najib Abdul Razak.
Willson: Hindraf is an organisations which speaks for the marginalised Indian community just like any other Chinese and Iban or Kadazan NGOs. The difference is this organisation is feared by Umno because it has the respect of the Indian community and the people behind it are credible.
Of course, they irritate Pakatan as well because Pakatan has not delivered its promises which Anwar Ibrahim personally gave Hindraf pre-March 8, 2008 elections. I suppose their job is to keep talking the truth no matter who they upset, Pakatan included.
Blogsmith: My bet is that the Umno/BN's branch - the ROS - will register them just before the 13th general election so that they can be spoilers in three-sided contests.
Disgusted: I'm not against Hindraf but I'm against the way they go about trying to screw things up for opposition. Don't rest on your laurels of the 2007 rallies which led to the tsunami of 2008. A lot of water has flown under the bridge since then.
Some of your leaders have split from the party and have even joined BN. You even failed to have another rally recently when the authorities thwarted your attempts. Stop romantising about your past achievements and consolidate and act wisely in order to give Malaysians of all races some hope.
Guts without brains and strategy is useless as it will only help to bolster BN and the rakyat will regard you as a nuisance. You have to be united with everyone who has a common desire to see BN's exit from Putrajaya.
Many educated Malaysians have distanced themselves from Hindraf because they do not like the way you do things. Shouting without being effective is a waste of time.
Anonymous: My whole family are from the estates. We are fourth generation Indians in Malaysia. We know how the Indians have suffered for this country.
More than 300,000 former estate workers were displaced from 1980 to 2000 without compensation. Another 400,000 were displaced from 2000 onwards. These workers were not compensated, no training opportunities were provided, and are now the urban underclass and seen as criminals.
The Felda settlers who contributed for 30 years are made overnight millionaires but the plantation workers, who have contributed for four generations, are kicked out without anything.
Hindraf spoke the truth on this and made people understand the true meaning of human rights. We don't need mercy from the government. Right is what we seek. Thank you, Hindraf. You may have been termed racist by idiots but that does not matter.
Anwar files defence and counter-sues Hisham
Pemerhati: Judicial commissioner Wazeer Alam Mydin Meera has a difficult choice. He can either give a judgment in favour of Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein and ensure that he will definitely be promoted and become a judge.
Or do what appears to be the legally correct thing and give a judgment in favour of Anwar. If he does the latter, he will severely jeopardise his chances of being made a judge. If he has any calibre he can quit and go into the private sector and lead a life of dignity and respect.
If he gives a judgment in favour of Hishammudin, then he will join the many reviled, unprincipled and shameless ‘kangaroos' now in the legal service, who are at the beck and call of Umno to do its dirty work.
Anonymous_40dc: Inaction on the part of those with power to stop the fitnah means consent. May Allah open up the conscience of some of our judges. May Allah make them see what is right and what is wrong. May Anwar get fair justice.
Anonymous_3f1f: Anwar, sue the hell out of those who had defamed you. These idiots are so scared and fearful of you that they are only good at smearing you and your family. They know they don't have the guts to face you and the only thing they know is to use dirty tactics to destroy you.
Still at a loss over Sarawak polls results
Anonymous_4031: If you have the numbers either at state or federal level, then you should form a shadow cabinet to show that you are serious to take over the federal government.
Regrettably, a shadow cabinet was not formed when Pakatan Rakyat had 80-odd MPs. Why? In UK, for example, it is being done. Failure to form a shadow cabinet shows that you are not confident to form the federal government.
In the same vein, when DAP announced a shadow cabinet in Sarawak, the idea was just frowned upon. Why? Unless you take the initiative or allow DAP to do so, you get nowhere as far as voters are concerned. Either you are serious or you are not.
Cala: Anwar, Rome is not built overnight. To me, you can take consolation as the leader of alternative coalition for securing 43 percent of the total votes cast in the recent Sarawak election.
In a truly democratic election, the coalition by right should have walked away with 43 percent of the seats contested. The fact that it does not translate that way just prove the proponents of new institutional economics correct that the ruling class will hold on to whatever they enjoy and institutional change only takes place "on their terms".
Fairplayer: Quote: "I mean I took a big risk with the Muslim crowd, endorsing (Baru Bian) as the prospective chief minister, but they relegated him a very small portfolio."
DSAI (Anwar), the Muslim crowd in Sarawak isn't as fanatical as their peninsula counterparts. Besides, Christians are the majority group in Sarawak. Please refer to the 18-point agreement in the Malaysia-formation pact.
See the first point of the agreement, "Point 1: Religion - While there was no objection to Islam being the national religion of Malaysia, there should be no State religion in Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah), and the provisions relating to Islam in the present Constitution of Malaya should not apply to Borneo."
My point is that you did not take a big risk by endorsing Baru as the prospective CM. You would be taking a big risk by not endorsing Baru.
