99% support for Bersih rally in 'Star' poll

4EverMalaysian: It simply shows that almost all Malaysians, irrespective of race and religion, want the general election to be a clean one, and the Election Commission must be overhauled or replaced.

I also miss the vote, count in another nine from my own family. We will certainly be there, with enough water, mask, goggles, salt, small towel, camera, umbrella and some apple/banana/chocolate bars.

Get yourselves fully fit for the historic day, and be ready for any eventuality and any possibility. Whatever happen, we must be very tactful and patient - no harsh words, don't respond to stupid words/action from the enemies, help the needy and follow the instructions from the organisers. See you there!

Kee Thuan Chye: Shame on The Star for hiding the truth from the people. How can it call itself ‘The People's Paper'? It's getting worse these days, especially the last few weeks, spinning left and right against the opposition, even in its editorials.

The worst was the one that tried to run down the Penang government. Is this journalism? It's giving the noble profession a bad name. The legacy the current editors eventually leave behind is going to tarnish their names.

Haven't they learned from the comments that were posted on Malaysiakini about their former editor-in-chief VK Chin the day he died?

FellowMalaysian: The poll shows a broad spectrum of the rakyat (read: ‘voters') irrespective of ethnicity background strongly believe that our electoral systems and practices are somewhat deficient and archaic and above all, are liable to manipulation.

I think this consensus results give a clear response that almost the entire populace believe electoral reforms should be carried out now. Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali should take heed of the wishes of the people and keep his big mouth shut. Otherwise, he will only land up speaking for himself.

Pepper Spray: The poll was clearly compromised. Like the time Anonymous and /b/tards voted 4chan founder, Moot, as the most influential person on Time.com, followed by Anwar Ibrahim.

Irrespective of race or creed, this is a unilateral call for all Malaysians to be respected and to promote fairness. How can this be wrong? Is Perkasa saying they want unfair elections by their objections?

This is 2011 and the people of today want transparency and justice. We must be brave and make a stand for it.

Jack Leong: With such massive spins from the mainstream media, most of the people still support the march. They should know by now that no amount of spin can hide the ugly truth about the ruling government.

Wira: I did not vote because I did not realise there was a vote going on as I was boycotting The Star . However, please consider three additional votes from my family for Bersih.

Sarawakian_3ff9: The Star thought that it would do PM Najib Razak a favour but surprise, surprise. Had the poll been taken by Malaysiakini or other ‘opposition' portals, the BN would disparage it.

As usual, when cornered, they turn to silence mode. If BN fear a defeat in the next general election, this is another indication of how people are going to vote.

So EC, cheat all you want, but this time you are going to be overwhelmed. I'm sure they are now breaking into cold sweat. Thanks, Ibrahim Ali.

Star suspects manipulation in Bersih poll

Rakyat Malaysia: If The Star poll could be manipulated, why put it up in the first place? Lack of foresight? Star should have checked votes from the same IP (internet protocol) address be counted once. So, a lame excuse here.

Well, it is clear what BN will get in the next election.

Anonymous: The Star, being a government propaganda media, should be read with caution. This coming after Rais Yatim linking the cyber attacks with Bersih raises suspicion.

We have to ask if this is an attempt to 'prove' Rais Yatim's accusation? And why would a propaganda machinery like The Star initiate a poll like that?

Nil: 60,000 from the same IP? That is quite impossible as the poll app would have rejected the excess. Only one vote would have been accepted. Is The Star manipulating its own news?

Malaysian Born: Not to worry, the attendance of the Bersih rally will give everyone an immediate indication if there was any manipulation of the poll.

The fact is the sheer numbers that are expected to participate in the rally is likely to make some people's toes curl and hair fall out, so I think the poll is probably more right than wrong.
