PAS leaders to hear Hasan's explanation tomorrow
The PAS Central Working Committee (CWC) will look into the issue of the controversial church raid during its monthly meeting tomorrow, said party secretary-general Mustapha Ali.
The PAS Central Working Committee (CWC) will look into the issue of the controversial church raid during its monthly meeting tomorrow, said party secretary-general Mustapha Ali.
At the meeting, Selangor PAS would report the issue to the CWC, as well as seek an explanation from state exco member Dr Hasan Ali, who is also PAS CWC member, on the matter, he said.
He said representatives from Selangor PAS were in the CWC, adding that Hasan was also a CWC member.
"We will discuss the matter (on the raid) during the meeting. Until that meeting is held, and Selangor PAS has briefed us, we will not issue any statement," Mustapha said when contacted by Bernama.
The meeting, beginning 10am, will be held at the party headquarters here.
Evidence of proselytising
PAS is part of the opposition coalition which also comprises PKR and DAP, ruling the Selangor government in which Hasan is state executive councillor in charge of Islamic affairs.
Hasan has defended the Selangor Islamic Religious Department’s (Jais) raid on a multi-racial dinner at the Damansara Utama Methodist Church (DUMC) in Petaling Jaya on Wednesday night, in the face of criticisms from non-governmental and Christian organisations.
He claimed the authorities had evidence that Christians were said to be proselytising Muslims at the function.
