Jais to issue arrest warrants for 12 Muslims
Anonymous_5fb: My understanding of religion, any religion for that matter, is centred around kindness, love and compassion. Religions promote these values to the faithful as well as among those not sharing the same faith.
To be honest, I look at Jais (Selangor Islamic Affairs Department) raid of DUMC (Damansara Utara Methodist Church) as more political than religious, regardless of whether it is legal or illegal under the law. It is wrong for any party to act in such a rude manner in other people's premises, more so if they are places of worship.
I say it again, don't fall into the trap set up by Umno and MCA. They are the main sources for the problems Malaysians are facing. Be considerate with your comments as they reflect the kind of person you are.
Galpasqueen: Jais, for something that was found in the dustbin, it doesn't even look crumpled. How do you expect the 12 kind-spirited Muslims to turn up at your office when your ethics of conduct are questioned by the rakyat.
Respect is something that has to be earned, which is alien to you. As far as I know, no message of god was ever delivered or accepted spiritually through force in any religion. Furthermore, everyone knows you are merely a political tool and nothing more.
Superwoman: The issue here is a thanksgiving dinner in honour of an NGO for its work on HIV/AIDS being held in the church compound. The DUMC has rightly explained the matter.
So why the arrest warrant for the 12 individuals, who supported the said NGO dinner and not the church?
The religious authorities have jumped on the bandwagon when somebody accused those present of proselytising. They said they found shredded evidence. Proof it. This is clearly a mirror of the incidence in Penang.
Mohd: Reading through the comments send shivers to my veins. I am a strong supporter of change in the country. I also believe that many of the issues that Muslims are facing are either of our own doing.
However, after reading the comments here and also some other issues recently on other matters that relates to Islamic beliefs or parties, I am beginning to believe that there are a group of non-Muslim who might be intentionally hijacking the course of making Malaysia a unique place into something based on what they believe. What's the different between the two extremes?
People Power: If Jais has proof that Muslims were being converted to Christianity in the Dream Centre compound, I'm confident all commentators will keep quiet after that. Let's see the result. Damn to all who try to fight Islam in Malaysia.
Hidup Rakyats: Little did anyone realise that the more they try to bash Umno/BN with their comment, the greater the negative impact it is on Selangor Pakatan Rakyat government. So please do not dance into the tune of BN as this is what they want you to do.
Little do you realise that, all the comments and frustration are leading the Malays to distance away or even having second thought on the Selangor government. They instill fear among the Malays.
Bear in mind that not all Malays are well-educated and liberal in their view. So be patient and let Jais do their job and let the wisdom of Selangor sultan resolves the issue after the full report is out.
Malaysian for Malaysia: Commentators here are not seeing the legal standpoint that Jais is acting upon. Jais has so far not acted beyond their legal powers. They have called the people to be interviewed to assist investigations, and they did not come, so the arrest warrants are issued.
It's the same with a police investigation as in this matter, Jais and the Syariah Court are the authority. Go read the law on this matter before making baseless comments.
To assume Jais would stoop so low like the police in planting evidence is ridiculous. You can speculate all you want, but Jais officers are not police, they do not use the methods employed by the police.
If they did, they would have eradicated many problems amongst Muslims that are difficult to prove, such drinking, gambling and such. The non-Muslims need to understand the syariah law applies to Muslims and thus Jais and other religious authorities are there to enforce them.
Proselytisation by virtue of Malaysian law is forbidden, thus Jais has to investigate.
Hanyayangbenar: Jais, just stop this nonsense... your intended action to arrest those people will further complicate this matter and further tarnish Islam as a compassionate and considerate religion in the eyes of other faiths.
Disgusted: The questionnaire was all about Islam. There was nothing in it about Christianity or comparing Islam with Christianity. Does learning about Islam or having a quiz about Islam constitute proselytisation of Muslims to Christianity?
It seem to be the other way around. The same format is being used in our current school syllabuses. I have never heard of a stupider statement than that.
It looks like Jais has really no solid evidence of Muslims being converted at the function but seems to be creating evidence as they go along just to cover up their blunder of having raided the function based on hearsay, just as it happened in Perak where upon a rumour was spread without substantiation by the Perak mufti about the baptising of Muslims in a church, almost causing a riot.
Hati Panas: If Jais is still investigating, why are they planning to issue warrant of arrests to the 12 Muslims? If they are sincere in finding the truth, go to the houses of the 12 and conduct the questioning.
Better still, if Jais had made a mistake in raiding the church and without a warrant, just say sorry. What is so difficult about that?
Tkc: One would have thought that Jais would investigate first before conducting a raid. Instead, it was shoot first and ask questions later.
Let's hope that they are not going to arm twist the witnesses or concoct more shenanigans to justify their outrageous actions.
Peace Lover: I agree that it is wrong for Jais to raid the church and for that matter, any place of worship. But now that it is water under the bridge, Jais needs to come up with irrefutable evidence to back up their claims, and this has to be done in court.
If it is proven, then definitely this is really a serious issue that will cause an uproar among Muslims in this country. Although I disagree with the raid, I will not tolerate proselytisation, if it did indeed happen. It is the law that no other religion can be propagated among Malays except Islam and this has to be respected at all cost.
Until then, we can argue with one another but don't let this issue divide us. If Christians are helping Muslims, the blame shall fall on us, the Muslims. We are suppose to help other Muslims because we are brothers and sisters in Islam.
Till then, let Jais finish its investigation. There are various legal issues that need to be sorted out before this case can be presented in court.
