EC: Pakatan using 'dirty politics' to win next polls

Fateh: "The Election Commission (EC) launched a broadside at Pakatan Rakyat, accusing the coalition of using 'dirty politics' and making it a scapegoat to gain political support ahead of the next general election.".

Malaysia is full of clowns to fool the rakyat. If the EC and the government have nothing to hide, then they should call an emergency parliament sitting on the alleged electoral fraud to clear the air.

Anonymous_3e4b: EC deputy chief Wan Ahmad Wan Omar is a real Umno stooge. Who are you to pass this kind of remarks? Your job is to ensure that all parties enjoy equal opportunity in elections.

If the opposition request for certain areas to be cleaned up, it is the job of the EC to ensure that area is cleaned so as to accord fair play to all contesting parties.

By passing uncalled-for remarks against the opposition, EC is showing its true colour - that is the colours of Umno.

Here are some examples of EC's bias action:

1) Doing away with 'pondok panas' when Pakatan won more than one-third of seats in 2008. Before that when BN was having a field day, there was no such ruling for 53 years.

2) Opposition need not use MSM (mainstream media) as they have alternative media and party organs. The EC is acting blind here as we know both TV and radio are the most effective campaign tools which can cover the length and breadth of Malaysia in the shortest possible time.

Joker: EC, your electoral roll is being challenged successfully on a daily basis for containing clone voters, voters who are not even citizens of Malaysia and voters who are not even of this world as they have been dead and laid to rest since a couple of elections ago.

You still want to play the ignorant fool and harp on the totally indefensible notion that the election is fair because the opposition won some seats?

It is pointless to argue with someone who is stubborn and too thick-skinned to even recognised his own stupidity. All I want to say is that Pakatan Rakyat was able to win some seats despite all those dirty tactics by BN, endorsed by the EC, MACC and judiciary.

DannyLoHH: Could Wan Ahmad explain how is the election fair when some constituents have up to 100,000 voters, while some only 20,000 voters? You call this fair?

How about the blatant vote-buying exposed recently in Sarawak? How would Wan Ahmad explains all the clone voters, duplicate postal votes, and dead voters who still exists on the electoral roll?

Does such a tainted electoral roll make elections free and fair? Why didn't Wan Ahmad touch on all these issues, instead of playing politics by acting like an Umno politician. Is he a registered Umno member? He sure sounds like one.

Ksn: It is not for EC to say that the opposition is using dirty tactics. Is the opposition, EC's opposition? Is the EC part of the Umno government? You are supposed to be independent - neither pro-government nor pro-opposition.

The EC is playing dirty by not accepting Bersih's recommendation for free and fair elections, which is the EC's responsibility.

If the opposition is playing dirty, it is for the government to expose the dirty tactics. It is not the EC's job. All these immature and silly responses are further exposing EC as a tool to be used, abused and manipulated by some.

Khairuddin Mohd Yusof: Wan Ahmad, if you were free and fair you wouldn't be giving lopsided comments like these. If you are fair and accountable, you don't even need to comment.

But unfortunately you are neither. Therefore the need to clarify time and again to satisfy your puppet masters.

Quigonbond: Such weak arguments are typical of BN sympathisers. When they can't win arguments on facts, they attack the messenger and question their motives.

Thanks to EC deputy chief continuing to be predisposed to speak in defence of BN, we Malaysians will be justified to assume that the electoral process is anything but free and fair, and will vote in favour of the opposition just to even the odds.

JBGUY: As a responsible officer representing the EC, Wan Ahmad has made a sweeping statement on the opposition's motive to malign the EC, but what he has failed to mention is that Bersih's demand are justified and would lead to free and fair elections.

It is pretty easy for Pakatan to disparage the EC because they can show the weaknesses inherent in the present system. If the EC was beyond reproach, then I dare to say that no parties will be able to accuse the EC of misfeasance.

The onus is on the EC to act, instead of defending the ruling party and abiding by their dictates.

Danny Lazaroo: Wan Ahmad is clearly either extremely corrupt or deficient to the nth degree. He seems to be genuinely oblivious of how the EC has failed, time after time, in its duty to ensure that elections are free of corruption.

Phantom voters, gerrymandering, unequal media access, the incumbent PM and ruling party using money as a lure to entice voters, and corrupt postal voting processes are just some of the growing list of well-documented and attested things that BN have employed during elections of the past - all of them are illegal and perversions of the course of democracy.

Perhaps Wan Ahmad genuinely thinks that the EC's job is just to count the votes and post the results. Perhaps he is unaware of the blatant cheating that BN have been able to get away with. If so, then he is simply deficient.

And if the EC is headed by deficient individuals, then S Ambiga, I think there is no hope for them to shape up.

Gerard Samuel Vijayan: The EC has absolutely no credibility or integrity left after these series of biased, vindictive, subjective and highly politicised letters written by the EC deputy chairperson to Utusan Malaysia .

Wan Ahmad is a typical Umno civil servant - loyal to the end to the hand that feeds him. It is disgusting to even read his articles. He is only concerned with his ‘rice bowl' and not the professionalism, impartiality and integrity of the EC as a constitutionally mandated body answerable only to the YDPA to conduct free and fair elections.

He is sounding like the mouthpiece of the Information Department to the point of demonising, criticising and slandering the Pakatan simply because the EC cannot answer the issues raised by Bersih 2.0.

The EC clearly does not stand for free and fair elections or any sort of electoral reform, it is contended to ensure that the BN keeps winning while the Pakatan remains in second place, if not completely destroyed.

Blogsmith: Wan Ahmad, as well as Umno-BN, should not keep parroting the line that elections are free and fair merely by saying that the opposition has won some seats.

Instead if they are honest, they should respond to the various accusations and uncovering of various unfairness plus the fact that postal votes in nearly all cases help BN win in marginal seats.

Many fair-minded Malaysians are of the opinion that had it really been free and fair, Umno-BN should be winning much less seats than it did in 2008 and before.

FairJustice: Wan Ahmad, you are servant of the people not BN, please remember. Taxpayers pay your salary, not the BN. If you have integrity, please quit and do something else instead of acting like a running dog for BN.

Dhammika: Wan Ahmad must wake up and realise that the electoral roll is contaminated with phantom voters. It is the concern of the rakyat, more than the opposition.

The rakyat has been fooled for too long. The first step for EC is to clean up the voters list.

The indelible ink must be used, while the biometric system undergoes a test period and be implemented in GE14 once it is proven effective.

EugeneT: So much for the EC being impartial. If this the kind of flawed argument the deputy chairperson can come out with, I fear for the nation's ability to progress politically.

The EC has time and time again proven to be incapable acting against obvious voters discrepancies, open threats (or bribery) in the guise of development, or even acting above the law (Perak is a fine example).

But what do you expect from a supposed bipartisan commission that reports to the Prime Minister's Department?

Freemsia: Pakatan using "dirty politics"? Hasn't Wan Ahmad been following the development the past week? Phantom voters were found. Clone voters were found. Permanent residents becoming voters were found.

Heck! Even there was a voter named "Kg Baru". Sometimes, I wonder - just who is he kidding?

Thisia: The EC should be totally independent. The very fact that they only accuse Pakatan for all the problems clearly shows how pro-Umno/BN they are. With this in mind, how on earth can we have a fair and just election?

Kgen: This deputy EC should hang his head in shame. If he wants to make political statements in support of Umno, he should resign and join Umno.

With a biased character like him as deputy head of EC, no wonder the commission behaves like a branch of Umno. He is not fit to hold any public office.

The fact that the opposition has won some seats should not be used as an argument that the polls are fair. The polls are definitely unfair, if at all the opposition can win it is because their support is enough to overcome the cheating.

Without the dice loaded against them they would have won many more seats and Najib Razak may today be the opposition leader.
