'Evidence fabricated in Anwar's corruption trial'

Ferdtan: Thanks to the former Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief Mat Zain Ibrahim's revelation of the unholy alliance to concoct evidence between the then investigator officer, Musa Hassan, and then prosecutor, Abdul Gani Patail, that got Anwar jailed for six years.

The truth has finally prevailed after so many years. However, it is sad that another conspiracy to get Anwar at all cost with another sodomy trial. This is stretching the imagination (on the part of BN government) too far; a sodomy trial which most Malaysians never believe.

To salvage the reputation of the government, the police and the attorney-general (with Gani Patail playing dominating role in both cases), the present sodomy charges should be dropped. It is a no-win situation on the part of the government: by putting Anwar in jail, you are making a martyr out of him.

Judging from his verbal salvo at the beginning of his defence against the court injustice against him shows that Anwar is prepared to walk that road: martydom.

Cala: Whether the duo (ex-IGP Musa, and serving AG Gani Patail) like it or not, Mat Zain's (former KL CID chief involved in Anwar's 1998 black eye incident) revelation that evidence had been planted is indeed "a bomb" that shows how low humans can go for their self-interest.

The duo has plenty to explain given that Mat Zain is not an ordinary fellow whose allegation can be simply brushed aside.

From this point hence, the world is waiting for Najib's response. Is he to protect the duo by maintaining a wall of silence, or is he, as he often says: "People first, performance now"?

Malaysia is at the crossroad. Najib's subsequent action will show whether Malaysia is "ruled by men" as widely held, or "ruled by law". The ball is at Najib's foot, will he kick it?

Justice Seeker: Why didn't Mat Zain assert the truth while in office? The reason is very simple - if he had done that, then he will be charged for allowing Anwar to sodomise him. Anyone who went against Dr Mahathir Mohamad will end up as being partners of sodomy.

Blogs like the Unspinners and Parpukari have labelled Mat Zain as the barking dog of Anwar. But in actual truth these pariah dogs are the true barking dogs of Umno.

StevenForMalaysia: No surprise, this is the kind of 'sandiwara' politics in Malaysia. The Umnoputras are bunch of extremist playing on racial and religious issues to keep them in power to rob the nation's wealth.

It is such a pity that great percentage of our fellow Malay countrymen allowed such robbery so long as they continue to enjoy the NEP benefits.

Swipenter: The process of decolonisation of the Malay mind by Umno has just started. We are seeing more and more upright and fair-minded Malays standing up to expose the evil deeds of Umno and some of their leaders to maintain political power on the country.

The revolution of the mind once started cannot be stopped. A good example is the Chinese losing fear of PAS and deserting MCA and Gerakan.

If you care to ask any Chinese about having no Chinese representation in the cabinet, the likely answer is this is not an issue to them.

The real issue is to get politicians who are smart, hardworking, idealistic and work for the country and for the people, unlike the present bunch of self serving and corrupt politicians that are running the country now.

We are also seeing Malay politicians challenging Umno's brand of Islam and Umno's version of history. This is a good sign that we are maturing politically and seeing beyond race and religion in our politics.

AkuMelayu: Mat Zain Ibrahim, where have you been all these years? I assume for the past 13 years you have been in a coma. Your credibility is questionable but don't worry Mat, there are many numbskulls out there to consume whatever trash you bring out.

Onyourtoes: AkuMelayu, I agree with you that maybe Mat Zain was in coma, maybe he was a coward, maybe he was threatened or maybe he was bribed to do the wrong thing before this.

But at least he has come to the open and said something now, and those that he mentioned specifically owe themselves and the people of Malaysia to clear their names in court.

FairPlay: If Mat Zin is a real coward, he should have kept quiet and nobody is any wiser. Why should he tell the truth now and allow people to call him by that name? It doesn't make sense, does it?

Whatever he might have been, at least he had the courage now to clear his conscience. It's never too late to make peace with one's maker.

Proarte: Sodomy I has now been shown to be a total sham with evidence fabricated by the former IGP and the current attorney-general, Gani Patail. These guys should rightfully be convicted for fraud and locked up.

Sodomy II involves the same criminal duo and the evidence so far has been a travesty of justice and common sense. Anwar has to be acquitted for sodomy II and for sodomy I, Anwar should be granted a full apology and given compensation for false imprisonment and humiliation he was put through by the Mahathir regime.

Up2U: "Swee lock saik chut" - when the water recede, the rock appears. It means eventually the truth will prevail.

Ordinary Malaysians stand no chance in the eye of the law if we have people like these in high office. For elected representatives to cover these misdeed is tantamount to betrayal of voters who vote for them. This is disgusting!
