Deputy Information, Communications and Culture Minister Maglin Dennis D’Cruz will launch a web portal tomorrow for the youth and Malaysians in general to highlight their problems, express their opinions freely and make suggestions.

“The problem with the younger generation of today or the people is that they chose not to come forward and believe what they read on the Internet.

"This will be a good way for them to interact with me and for me to clear up any misconceptions that they have.

“They can also tell me their problems concerning education, difficulty in finding jobs or personal problems and we will try and address them within a week,” he said.

D’Cruz, who is from the PPP, said the portal would first start with a survey where the people could answer whether they wanted a portal to express their opinions freely and without fear.

“I hope to get 100,000 responses to kick off the idea by tomorrow, as it is in line with the government’s policy to see active public involvement in gathering feedback and the direction of the country.

“This special channel can then be used to gauge how they feel and give their opinions on government policy,” he said.

D'Cruz said he had been solving people's problems for the past 10 years and would like to extend this further by using the portal to assist them.

He believes education and unemployment will be the main grouses.

“Sometimes they think their children are qualified to take medicine, but parents will have to be told the hard truth,” he said, if their children do not have the necessary academic or extracurricular qualifications required.

“All this has to be explained, although the truth is sometimes hard to accept,” he added.
