The National Film Development Corporation (Finas) will not block efforts by any party or individual who produce films using their own funds.

Its director-general Mohd Naguib Razak said Finas has no right to do so because the efforts and initiatives are the result of creative work.

He said it did not involve Finas or the Information Communication and Culture Ministry and the people should not be prejudiced.

"The film Nasi Lemak 2.0 has been viewed with prejudice because the producer had sparked a controversy before.

"As a result of this, the new film which wants to promote unity and foster the 1Malaysia spirit suffered," he said in a statement today.

Naguib said prejudice should be separated from the film Nasi Lemak 2.0 as it has nothing to do with the controversy.

Finas was not involved in approving the film for censorship and screening as the responsibility fell to the Film Censorship Board and the Home Ministry.
