The Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC) strongly objects to the amendments to the Employment Act, which was passed by the Dewan Rakyat last week.

It would write a letter to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, stating its reasons for rejecting the amendments, said MTUC president Mohd Khalid Atan.

He said a letter, asking for a postponement of the amendments, was sent to minister Dr S Subramaniam during a meeting of the National Labour Advisory Council on Oct 3.

He said the MTUC planned to hold a nationwide picket on Nov 3 to protest against the proposed amendments.
