DAP chairperson Karpal Singh has called on the police to act against bloggers accusing Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's 16-year-old son of molesting his classmate.

NONE "The trauma suffered by the chief minister's son is beyond imagination, having regard to the allegation made against him," Karpal said in a press statement today.

Inspector-general of police Ismail Omar must direct his men to open criminal defamation investigations against the bloggers, he said said.

"The point to address with all speed is the necessity for the police to spring into action in the wake of the completely wild allegation against the 16-year-old without any regard for humanity."

Karpal called for the bloggers responsible to be brought to justice for their "vile postings" to ensure such things are not repeated.

The veteran lawyer and Bukit Gelugor MP also called on Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to intercede in the matter.

"As a father, the prime minister, no doubt, can imagine the agony suffered by the Penang chief minister. On a matter of such serious concern, there should be no consideration of political affiliation."

Pro-Umno blogs had claimed that Lim's 16-year-old son  had outraged the modesty of a fellow schoolmate, and that the DAP secretary-general had purportedly paid a large sum of money to keep the matter under wraps and had his son transferred to another school.

Lim had on Tuesday lashed out at pro-Umno bloggers for trying to finish off his political career by wrecking the life of his teenage son with "morally despicable and barbaric" lies.

He also said he transferred his son to another school as he had promised this to the teenager for scoring well in his PMR exams.
