Embattled former Selangor PAS commissioner Hasan Ali today turned the tables on PAS secretary-general Mustafa Ali by accusing him of being the one who had met with Umno leaders.

"As far as I am aware, there were repeated meetings between Mustafa and Umno top leaders, including a personal request from Mustafa to meet a senior Umno figure," he said.

Hasan ali pc Hasan ( left ), at a press conference at his residence this morning, said Mustafa has thus far been unsuccessful in securing that particular meeting.

He was responding to Mustafa's allegations that he and former PAS deputy president Nasharudin Mat Isa had met with Umno members and three others at the Le Meridian during Ramadan.

"I strongly deny that the meeting was with Umno members, be it at the low, middle or top level," said Hasan, who did not dispute there was a meeting.

He added that the the meeting had nothing to do with Umno or PAS.

However, Hasan declined to elaborate on his claim but welcomed investigations into the alleged meeting.

"I will stop here about the allegation just as Mustafa had accused me but stopped short (of revealing the details)... I welcome the leadership to investigate me, but the same investigation must also be directed against Mustafa on his meeting with Umno leaders."

'Mustafa spying on members?'

Hasan then lashed out at Mustafa for the accusation, demanding that the latter explain whether he had formed a unit to spy on party members.

NONE "I would also like to know the need to spy (on PAS members) in the context of party unity," said Hasan.

Mustafa ( right ) had made the allegation after Hasan demanded evidence that he had fallen into Umno's trap.

This, he said, showed that the party's secretary-general has been trapped by prejudice against fellow Muslims.

"As secretary-general to a party based on Islamic principles, such wild allegations should not come out from the mouth of a capable secretary general."

Meanwhile Mustafa was reported on Harakahdaily today saying, “The game is over. For me this matter is closed.”

Speaking at a PAS event last night in Kuala Terengganu, he said the top leadership has met and issued statements on the matter.

“Therefore I hope my reply at the recent press conference would be the  last (on the matter),” he said.

However he added that he would review what Hasan says at the latter’s press conference today, and respond if neccessary.

“If he challenges me to expose (the truth), I will weigh what needs to be replied,” he was reported saying.

‘Not joining Perkasa’

On another matter, Hasan said he does not intend to accept Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali's invitation to join the Malay rights group.

"I thank him for the offer, but for now I would like work on the current platform that I have. I would like to focus on my message of defending Islam, Malays and royalty.

“I cannot have one foot here and another foot there."

Hasan added that he was prepared to meet PAS' leadership to clear the air over the past week’s controversy and to convey the views of party members.

The fiasco erupted after Selangor PAS information chief Saari Sungib confirmed that Hasan had failed to gather sufficient nominations to defend his Gombak Setia seat.

The statement prompted Hasan to launch a broadside against Selangor PAS that led to a tit for tat that eventually dragged in the party’s national leaders.
