Malay rights group Perkasa has challenged Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim to attend two special prayer sessions in mosques to seek the truth before the verdict on his sodomy trial is delivered on Monday.

Perkasa vice-president and Kulim-Bandar Baharu MP Zulkifli Noordin claimed that Anwar's sodomy accuser Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan had agreed to be present.

zulkifli noordin According to a report in today's Utusan Malaysia , Zulkifli ( left ) said the two special prayer sessions on Thursday and Friday were to seek the answer from Allah on who was lying over the sodomy allegation.

He said the special prayer on Thursday was proposed to be held in the National Mosque while the second prayer on Friday would be held in the Kampung Baru mosque, the Federal Territory mosque or at Masjid Jamek.

"I challenge Anwar and Saiful to come on that day to seek guidance from Allah to prove who is right and who is lying. We will also ask in our prayers that whoever lies be cursed by Allah," he was quoted as saying to reporters after a Perkasa programme in Shah Alam on Sunday.

"With God's blessing, I just received the response from Saiful, who is prepared to attend... now, I'm waiting for Anwar's answer... if he is in the right, he shouldn't back off and hide behind the so-called people's court," Zulkifli added.

Prayers to prevent chaos

Utusan also quoted Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali as saying he had directed all his members throughout the country to organise their own special prayers before next Monday to pray that the capital and all Malaysians would be safe from any chaos that may be caused by the sodomy verdict.

According to the Umno-owned Malay daily, police have received 239 reports nationwide protesting against the proposed illegal assembly outside the Kuala Lumpur court complex the opposition aims to hold on Monday.

NONE Pakatan Rakyat plans to mobilise thousands of supporters on that day to express their solidarity with Anwar.

On the other hand, Perkasa also called on its supporters to attend another special prayer session at the Federal Territory mosque at 4pm on Sunday, a day before the sodomy verdict is delivered, which would be followed by speeches from Ibrahim ( right ) and Zulkifli.

Apart from that, Perkasa will also organise two rallies in Johor and Kedah. The first will be held at Masjid Al-Falah, Sri Alam, Johor Baru, at 4pm on Jan 5, over the pig skulls and pork found outside a mosque in Johor Baru last week.

The second will take place at Madrasah Salihiah, Alor Star, at 1pm on Jan 7 to protest the demolition of a madrasah there by the Pakatan-ruled Kedah government.
