PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin and its strategic director Rafizi Ramli have appointed a team of four lawyers to represent them in the RM100 million defamation suit brought by Women, Family and Community Development Minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.

Zuraida said they believed there is no basis for the suit to be filed but they are prepared to meet Shahrizat in court.

azlan “We will use the suit as an opportunity to meet Shahrizat and the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) in court to expose further abuses by the NFC, including providing official documents, to give a better picture on the business dealings and abuses which may have happened.

“We are also prepared to call in important and responsible witnesses who had any dealings with the NFC. They can be from the government and other parties to further unveil the biggest scandal in the country,” she said.

The four lawyers appointed to represent them are Ranjit Singh, Sivarasa Rasiah, N Surendran and Gopal Sreenevasan.

Zuraida said she and Rafizi welcome Shahrizat’s suit as it would give them an opportunity to get further details hidden from the public at large.

‘A front to transfer funds?’

Rafizi, who had earlier revealed that Shahrizat’s family had purchased another two posh condos at Marina Bay suites in Singapore, said the family has three eateries there namely Meatworks (Singapore) Ptd Ltd, Brawn Steakhouse at the area where the two condos are located, and also Sino Santos.

He said Shahrizat’s family has three companies in Singapore besides Meatworks (Singapore) Ptd Ltd there, which could be used as a front to transfer funds from the RM250 million soft loan which the government granted.

“My guess is all three restaurants parked under Meatworks received monthly injections from Kuala Lumpur using the RM250 million,” said Rafizi.

Meanwhile, PKR linked non-governmental organisation Jingga 13 co-ordinator Fariz Musa said they will lodge a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission tomorrow in Shah Alam following today’s revelation.
