The state will not take action against former exco Hasan Ali for his RM300,000 expenditure on office renovations while in office, said Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

NONE The MB explained Hasan’s expenditure, that was criticised last week as “wasteful”, was done in accordance with state Treasury procedures.

According to Sinar Harian yesterday, Khalid ( right ) concluded that no action would be taken against the Gombak Setia assemblyperson.

“"We practice transparent policies; for example I have to present the expenditure in Selangor, certainly one can raise an issue or question them when they see the amounts spent,” he was quoted saying after officiating the Museum of Institute Jugra in Kuala Langat yesterday.

Anyone is free to question whether an expense is excessive or inadequate, he added.

NONE Last Friday at the Selangor assembly, Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyperson Azmin Ali ( left ) highlighted Hasan’s renovation and other expenses, as an example of the former exco’s wastage .

Azmin added that Hasan had also spent RM550,000 when the Selangor Malay Customs and Heritage Corporation (Padat) that the latter chaired at the time, organised a conference.

“The money could have been better channelled to rakyat,” Azmin, who is also PKR deputy president said.

The state assembly sitting is the first that Hasan, the former exco for Islamic affairs, Malay customs, infrastructure and public amenities is attending as an Independent rep, after having been sacked by PAS.
