Bersih 2.0 co-chairperson Ambiga Sreenevasan has denied rumours that a third rally for free and fair elections has been decided on.

In a text message to Malaysiakini , Ambiga said a decision will only be made after the parliamentary select committee (PSC) on electoral reforms concludes its work.

"If there is to be one, I will announce the date after the PSC report," she said.

NONE Rumours have been rife that a third rally has been fixed for April 28 after the PSC failed to include most of the electoral reform group's recommendations in its preliminary report.

Meanwhile, a Bersih 2.0 steering committee member in a Facebook posting also denied the rumour.

"Please take note that April 28, 2012 as the date for Bersih 3.0 is not accurate. We will decide on Bersih 3.0 after the PSC report and the government's response to it.

"If Najib wants us to go to the streets, we will tell you when. Thanks for the fighting spirit," said Wong Chin Huat.

However, a reliable source said that Bersih 2.0 has tentatively planned April 28 for its third rally but has not yet finalised the details.

According to the source, this will be decided at a meeting next Tuesday.

PSC report to be completed in April

Bersih 2.0 in January expressed disappointment that the PSC has only committed to three of its eight demands, namely on indelible ink, advanced voting and an audit of the electoral roll.

The PSC report is expected to be presented in Parliament by next month.

The PSC was announced a month after Bersih 2.0 led ten of thousands of protesters onto the streets of Kuala Lumpur to demand free and fair elections.

Police responded with a lockdown of the capital from the eve onwards, and arrested more than 1,600 protesters by the end of the rally on July 9.
