Associate Professor Ridhuan Tee Abdullah said today the demands made by Chinese education group Dong Zong are “insolent” and that it is trying to “turn Malaysia into communist China”.

"Their demands are illogical and extreme. Communists may no longer be around but the ideology is still strong.

NONE "They will demand as much as they can, knowing that the government will not concede.

"But the government will concede a little, and that is their victory," the Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia academician said.

In a comment piece in Malay daily Utusan Malaysia , Ridhuan said the "ultra kiasu" Dong Zong have no intentions to integrate and to push for a national agenda, focussing only on "Chinese, Chinese, Chinese".

'Lock them up under ISA'

In fact, Tee said, Dong Zong should be thankful to the government instead of holding last Sunday's "racial rally", which should in fact land them behind bars under the Internal Security Act (ISA).

In contrast, he said, the Chinese government had shot dead up to 800 people who protested against it in the Tiananmen massacre.

"But we continue to take a soft stand.

"If anything, we only give a show-cause letter, a warning, not even a rap on the knuckles. Why?

"My advice is that no matter how much we give in to them, the ultra kiasu will not vote for us," he said.

Thousands of people had joined the Dong Zong-organised rally to protest the government’s failure to address the acute shortage of Chinese-educated teachers for Chinese schools.
