Why is high-end beef so important to us?

YOURSAY 'Tell me for what national or strategic purpose the government should go into or subsidise cattle farming?'

Gov't seeks new company to take over NFC project

your say Onyourtoes: Just stop this stupid project. There is no need to issue another tender to take over this ill-conceived project.

Cut the losses and move on. Of course, whatever loans given earlier should be recovered.

Tell me for what national or strategic purpose the government should go into or subsidise cattle farming? Why is high-end beef so important to us?

Just let whoever in the private sector who want to import from whatever sources to do so freely. Stop interfering by imposing APs (approved permits), import licences or other moronic conditions and I am sure the supply of beef will be more efficient and abundant.

Alternatively, the government should just provide more suitable state land for cattle farming with preference given to those who are already in this business.

Please just make sure the land so provided is specifically for cattle farming. Don't start another con job please.

James Dean: Before the second loan is disbursed the first loan must be recalled and fully returned.

Our economy is already in bad shape so before the BN government fork any more of our money, make sure Shahrizat Abdul Jalil's family repay every sen they have taken.

Anonymous: The government should solve the RM250 million soft loan and the mismanagement issue involving National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) before bringing in a new company.

It needs to establish who approved this soft loan. What was the rational and criteria for the loan? How the loan could be drawn down without even concluding the feasibility study? How to retrieve the loan? There are many other issues to be resolved.

AkuDahUbah: This government knows no shame or has any sense of accountability. Their arrogance and greed in plundering our national coffers continues unabated.

They seek to revive a project that was a conduit for corruption. Instead of demanding our money back, it announces another bite of the udder for their cronies.

They should write a book on ‘How to Anger Your People and Lose the Next GE'.

Anonymous2: The conclusion of this NFC debacle is simple.

In essence, the government is saying, "Yes, we are as guilty as hell, and in many other countless things as well, but unless you people can prove it, we are innocent".

Looking at all the happenings up till now, is it really that hard for those fence-sitters out there to make a choice in this coming election?

Anonymous: Just dispose the assets, recover the full cost and then liquidate it. Giving it to another crony company is like jumping from the frying pan into the fire. Enough is enough.

Gen2: The lack of accountability and governance in the BN government's handling of the NFC from its inception to its decline lays bare all its lies.

The fact that the civil servants in the Treasury allowed this to happen also lays bare the lies of the chief secretary that they are professionals.

The head in Felda is a tainted man. Felda settlers should take the NFC incident as a lesson before they allow themselves to be lead like a cow to the slaughter.

Anonymous3: And who in their right mind would take over a company that is in debt of RM250 million?

And the government is calling for tenders expecting more than one interested party? And the minister says the government is serious about it? What a big joke.

After borrowing a hefty sum and defaulting on the loan, they want to sell off the company. Who wants to buy over a defaulted loan the size of a crater?

Kgen: Maybe Shahrizat's family should participate in the tender. They have a good chance due to connections and "experience".

Vijay47: After all that sustained doom and gloom that NFC evoked, it is heartening to see some sunshine in the grey clouds.

Inviting others to take over the project is a welcome start and I will do my patriotic duty by offering to be the new manager.

I feel I am eminently qualified for the job. Firstly, I know nothing about cows and animal husbandry.

Secondly, I know of many projects in Bangsar and elsewhere where up-market condos are available. Where do I get the forms?

Tmf: I want! Got RM250 million 2% per annum soft loan or not?

Recover every sen of RM250mil loan first
