After the first ‘live’ debate in February, MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng will square off again in a second debate set for July 8.
Lim's press secretary sent a copy of the invitation letter to the media this morning, confirming his attendance at the debate.
Headed ‘Lim-Chua Debate 2.0', the letter was signed by Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute (Asli) chief executive officer Michael Yeoh.
The debate is set for 2.30 to 4.30pm, but the venue and language were not stated.
The topic will be ‘DAP and MCA: Whose policies benefit the community better?’
This will cover policies on education, healthcare, economic prosperity, community service, national unity, public welfare and poverty alleviation.
Chua confirms attendance
Chua's office also confirmed to Malaysiakini that the former health minister has given his nod.
“Details will be announced by Asli,” said an officer with the MCA president's office.
Asli, an independent non-profit think tank, organised the first Lim-Chua debate.
Their debate then , titled 'Chinese at a political crossroads: Is the two-party system becoming a two-race system?' was conducted in Mandarin.
It received wide coverage by both the Chinese and English language media and sparked a heated discussion within both parties and the society at large.
