The PKR’s planned short film on the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) will be a comedy, said director of strategy Rafizi Ramli.

He is discussing this with film-maker Hishamuddin Rais, who will direct the feature about ex-minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil and her family’s involvement in the scandal involving a RM250 million government soft loan.

Hishamuddin, who has taught film-making at several higher education institutions, has been active in student issues and in election reform coalition Bersih.

NONE Rafizi had announced the idea of taking the hotly-debated NFC issues to the silver screen at a ceramah in Kuala Lumpur last Sunday.

"For me, when it comes to politics, if it is a ceramah it is serious and boring.

"I want more than a ceramah.

"Politics must have artistic value," he said in an interview with fledgling online radio channel Radio Bangsar Utama last night.

"The film may be around 45 minutes long, we will make sure it is more comedic and artistic, and not have too many political messages.

He conceded that there may be risks from the legal perspective.

“But it depends on whether certain sides feel it has defamatory elements or not. We have to scrutinise it to ensure it is really based on facts,” he added.

Shahrizat, who heads Wanita Umno, has already filed a lawsuit against Rafizi and PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin for alleged slander.

They have since filed a countersuit against Shahrizat, who quit as women, family and community development minister in April.

Rafizi faces a second lawsuit that was filed by the NFC last month.
