Anti-Faekah row: Mystery trio calls for truce

As the online campaign against Selangor MB’s political secretary Faekah Husin rages on, three NGO leaders have stepped forward to diffuse the row.

The three individuals, who claim to represent the People's Progress and Welfare Association (Pro-Rakyat), said the campaign was counterproductive because it tarnishes Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid.

Pro-Rakyat secretary-general Mohd Naquib Carmeil Roseli told reporters yesterday that Faekah ( left ) is "highly qualified" for her job and was very dedicated.

They added that she was very “strict”, a possible reference to what party insiders claim was an obstacle for some disgruntled party members who are finding it hard to influence the Menteri Besar’s Office.

Moreover, with the general election expected soon, Mohd Naquib argued that there would be even more reason to cease any infighting.

Also at the press conference were Pro-Rakyat information chief Ahmad Tarmizi Sulaiman and Pro-Rakyat exco member Abdul Halim Abdullah.

However, they clarified that they were not speaking on behalf of the NGO, and were instead holding the press conference as "concerned citizens".

Trio aligned to Azmin?

Malaysiakini understands that the three individuals have close ties to Selangor state exco member Yaakob Sapari, seen to be close to PKR deputy president Azmin Ali.

The trio have however denied being in Azmin's ( right ) political 'camp'.

At this juncture, it is uncertain if the trio were part of a convoluted truce plan or whether they were merely seeking publicity.

An online campaign by 'Kami Sayangkan PKR' (We Love PKR) wants the fiery political secretary sacked, with the unhappiness said to have arisen from disbursements under the Geran Selangorku , a development programme for the people of Selangor managed by Menteri Besar Incorporated.

What had started as a seemingly a trivial campaign snowballed after Azmin appeared to lend his endorsement by reposting a tweet calling for Faekah to be sacked.

The move sparked speculation of an internal rift in PKR Selangor, but Azmin played it down and claimed he had 'accidentally' re-tweeted the posting.

He did however add that numerous complaints had been made against Faekah, but did not elaborate.

The campaign has mainly been mobilised online, using Twitter handle @ pecatfaekah (fire Faekah) and the hashtag # kamisayangPKR (we love PKR).
