A quick check in Twitterjaya reveals more than just two sides to the hudud debate sparked by Umno's Kemelah assemblyperson Ayub Rahmat, who said that the Islamic criminal law should be implemented in Johor for all races.

NONE On the surface, the split seems obvious; those for hudud and those opposing it. However Twitterjaya reveals a slightly more complex situation, just slightly.

The opposition to Ayub Rahmat's ‘hudud for all' call not so much for ‘hudud', but that little part which says ‘for all'.

Like a coin, Twitterjaya has two sides

However, the deafening calls opposing hudud is met with unyielding support from the other side.

NONE Nik Aziz was quoted by Sinar Harian as to have congratulated Umno on its assemblyperson's proposal to implement hududin Johor.

PAS ulama chief Harun Taib also welcomed Ayub's proposal and said that PAS was willing to provide help if Umno was serious in implementing hudud.

And there were no shortage of supporters of hudud in Twitterjaya.

As the debate rages on in Twitterjaya, one can only ponder: Should we be worried about hudud or the fact that we are so easily divided?
