The incident in which 70 thugs attacked officers and members of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission who were carrying out their duties in Perasu, Gua Musang, Kelantan recently, implies the state has no laws, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz.

Expressing disappointment over the incident, he said legal action should be taken against the irresponsible group.

"They were already committing an offence and yet they dared to attack the authorities. It is as if there is no law in the state," he told reporters after opening a futsal court in Kuala Kangsar today.

He was commenting on a newspaper report today mentioning a group of 70 thugs armed with machetes and sticks which attacked MACC officers carrying their duties in Perasu, Gua Musang on Thursday.   

According to the report, in the 9pm incident, about 15 MACC officers and men faced anxious moments when they were threatened with injuries and surrounded for more than four hours.

In the incident, the MACC officers were carting away seized assets from a gold mine operating illegally in Sungai Emas near Felda Perasu.
