alluded to Pakatan Rakyat’s “cockiness” and had mocked Lee’s Olympics silver medal accomplishment.
He said that as Lee is a Penangite, and the Penang chief minister is from DAP, the national opposition party and all its elected representatives should be in full support of the athlete.
“(DAP) members from... secretary-general Lim Guan Eng to Manoharan should express full support and words of comfort to (Lee) who definitely has bettered his performance from the Beijing Olympics in 2008,” he said.
He added that a gold medal would have been a “glorious bonus” given that Lee had just recovered from an injury which had almost jeopardised his Olympics participation.
“All Malaysians irrespective of political affiliation should congratulate and be proud that (Lee) made eventual champion Lin Dan slug and sweat it out in the three-set thriller.
"Nobody has any right to insult (Lee) or the Malaysian contingent,” he said.
