'Low turnout' more Hisham's hope than reality
FREE VOXPOP ‘We gather to celebrate Merdeka and hope BN really ‘fulfills' its commitments. What has that got to do with affecting peace and stability?'
Home minister expects low turnout at 'Janji Bersih'
Hmmmmmmmm: PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) taught the rally-goers a good lesson the last time all right. Whether this will deter future participants or strengthen their resolve is another matter.
Changeagent : Low turnout or high turnout, that's beside the point. The point is that the federal government has yet to implement proper electoral reforms which it is obliged to.
'Janji Bersih' or 'Janji Demokrasi' is a reminder to BN to fulfill its promises and responsibilities.
Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein would be better served to take heed of the message, rather than to make a fool of himself by pretending to be a fortune-teller who specialises in predicting crowd turnouts.
Chris Wong: Eh tolonglah (please- lah )... we gather to celebrate Merdeka and hope the current administration really ‘fulfill' their commitments to the people of Malaysia. What has that got to do with affecting peace and stability?
Tholu: Why should it matter to Hishammuddin in the number of Bersih supporters that would be turning up for the ‘Janji Bersih' gathering.
You are not the Oracle of Delphi. The same thing was said before the Bersih 3.0 rally, but an overwhelming crowd turned out for the event.
I think it's not your prediction but your hope that not many will attend it because otherwise BN will be relegated to playing second fiddle in the Merdeka countdown.
CiViC: Hishammuddin, wash your feet clean, and I mean ‘clean', because you will need to put them in your mouth later. And please, don't make it so obvious.
‘Janji Bersih' is asking for a peaceful assembly, and Hishammuddin accuses them of affecting peace, but the so-called Kuala Lumpur Petty Traders Association has directly threatened everyone with "aggressive action", and yet no action is taken against them.
Awtar: I'm joining the ‘Janji Bersih' and will ask my friends to be part of it as well, and don yellow.
Jedi_Who: Now we know where the orders came from that resulted in so many Bersih casualties. They are following some guide book from the Syrian regime. The Isrealis don't beat up their own citizens, only their enemies.
Lim Chong Leong: Even if the ‘Janji Ditepati' gathering offered free ‘makan' and gave money and LED 42" TV, there will still be more at ‘Janji Bersih'. Hishammuddin is hinting at violence again, is he?
Bersih Generation Malaysian: Let's make it the biggest ever countdown party and ‘Selamat Hari Raya' Bersih celebration. We shall flood Dataran Merdeka, our national heritage, for the love of our nation.
Anbalagan_2187: See the strategy of using the fear factor? Cunning fellows, implying that you should not go if you don't want to be bashed again.
JomUbahUbah: I fully support this gathering and am calling all Malaysians, regardless of race and religion, to attend this gathering without fail.
Class 1967: I just do not believe that the HM (home minister) would say that. He is not in touch with the rakyat and is not listening. His comments made my day and Malaysians would know what to do.
Fair Play: Dear HM, you might not be aware of this - most people generally demonstrate their 'inner' fears by saying the opposite of what they really believe. I think you are no exception.
Anonymous #07443216: When will Hishammuddin ever learn? Talk about letting his children know how lucky they are, he should think the same advise loudly in his skull too before he gets carried away threatening the rally participants of 'Janji Bersih'.
And he should wake up from his conceited arrogance and take notice of the feelings of Malaysians who are merely asking for fairness, instead of pushing them into a corner. They may surprise him.
Western Digital plans to slash 1,200 jobs in M'sia
Keny Leow: It seems like the voluntary separation scheme is the right thing for Western Digital (WD) to do since the majority of workers in WD factories are from Indonesia, Burma and other nations.
If they were to hire foreigners to work, better to set up factories in countries where the workers are. This is a classic example of failed BN industrialisation planning, relying too much on cheap foreign labour and little automation.
Kit P: The dichotomy in the Malaysian economy is thus - weak manufacturing exports impacted by recession in Europe and United States, and the slowdown in China. Expansion in local consumption coming from government expenditure, including handouts.
The first part is the sustainable economy and it is facing weakness. The second part, driven by shovelfuls of government cash, is unsustainable.
Doc: And the Bank Negara governor just indicated that Malaysia's economy is at a healthy 5.6 percent.
RL: Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, you say Malaysia won't be affected by the global slowdown, now how?
Joker: WD earned RM5 billion in profit but can't pay proper severance to staff who stayed with the company for more than 12 years? This from a ‘Best Employer Award' recipient.
