EC's foot-dragging meant to serve BN's interests

VOXPOP 'EC takes instructions from Umno. Dragging their feet on the implementation of the PSC recommendations is to the advantage of BN.'

'Four months and still no polls reform!'

vox populi small thumbnail Ferdtan: The Election Commission (EC) is testing the patience of all by delaying and ignoring the call on electoral reform. They are just buying time until the general election is at our doorstep.

They have read well the Malaysian psyche - we forget and give up easily. After the big Bersih 3.0 rally, we are back to zero. It also seems that Bersih steering committee under S Ambiga and Pak Samad (A Samad Said) have resigned to their fate of not achieving what they had set up to.

Only one reform, the use of indelible ink, was mentioned but the method and the types of ink were all shrouded in secrecy.

We call upon the Bersih committee to wake up from the slumber (with apologies if I am wrong). It is time to play hardball with the EC and the BN government who is seen to gave tacit support to the commission.

At least, put EC to shame and we shall take it from there on the polling day.

Ablastine: EC takes instructions from Umno. Dragging their feet on the implementation of the PSC recommendation is to the advantage of the corrupt BN.

They know that the only way they can win in the polls this time is by cheating. Why would they do something to prevent that from happening?

Chandran Sukumaran: I suggest wear your yellow T-shirt at 11pm sharp on Aug 30.

Be-End: I would like to share a very touching moment in my life. I went to McDonald's today at about 3pm to buy myself a burger. While waiting for my turn to be served, I saw a family of about five who came to the counter many times but left.

Finally, I asked a small kid from the group what they were waiting for. The kid told me they came this morning at 9am but had no money to buy anything. I just brushed them aside thinking it was another "pity situation case".

Then my better side asked the kid again. He told me that they did not have a sen with them and they hoped some people would leave behind some food so that they could get a bite of the burger.

He really touched me and I brought them each a double and let them celebrate Hari Raya. I left and hope one day they will have a chance to buy a burger for other people in need.

My advice to all those who have extra money - they are thousand of starving kids and family who just need a meal to make them happy. Are you going to be one of them?

Raub council says 'no-go' to Himpunan Hijau

Hmmmmmmmm: Just let the Raub District Council nominate a day when the padang is not in use and then have your assembly on that day. They can't possibly make up activities 365 days of the year, can they?

Tulin: I don't know why the authorities are so much afraid of people voicing their grievances. When are we going to have a government who would listen to the people, be it pleasant to them or otherwise?

Democracy is not just a system of choosing the people's representatives but also giving the people the right to be heard directly.

Pitbull: Ban Cyanide Action Committee chairperson Wong Kin Hoong, there is no need to negotiate with the council. Do not suck up to them as they do not deserve the rakyat's respect. They do not care for the welfare of the people.

Use the streets and I will be there to lend my support next Sunday.

Lim Chong Leong: Peaceful Assembly Act or Illegal Assembly Act, the law is in their hands the way it is drafted.

If Umno or its allies like Perkasa hold an event, it gets all approved instantly. But for Himpunan Hijau, they will say: "Oh, someone has booked the venue already."

Gen Half Track: Raub residents, make sure that you boot Raub MP Ng Yen Yen out of office and teach MCA a lesson they will not forget. No more safe seat for her.

'Umno Facebook' probe not under Section 114A

Geronimo: There I knew it. They will find some lame-o of an excuse to extricate themselves from this mess.

If it had been Pakatan Rakyat, by now the poor bloke would already be in jail (probably beaten up) and his IT equipment confiscated. No need for court hearing because he is already guilty, as the Evidence Act says.

Disbeliever: Am I to believe that there are two sets of law in Malaysia?

One law for Umno-BN and other organisations friendly to Umno-BN and another for the opposition and any other organisation labelled as being part of the opposition, even if it is just an NGO such as Bersih 2.0.

Kgen: If one of the opposition party's name and logo was used as the author, will they be automatically slapped with section 114A and convicted if they can't prove their innocence?

This bad law doesn't make sense if is to be applied fairly. But it makes sense to Umno as another weapon against the opposition. Umno can create bad laws because they and their goons are exempted from it.

Has any BN politician or their henchmen such as Perkasa's Ibrahim Ali been charged with sedition in living memory, even after making the most provocative statements?
