Penang Gerakan has made another allegation linking Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng with his landlady, claiming she is a director and shareholder of a company whose subsidiary had purchased the Taman Manggis site from the state government.

State Gerakan Youth deputy chief H'ng Khoon Leng said however that the individual, dubbed ‘Ms P’, was not a director and shareholder of the subsidiary company.

phee boon poh denied resign 221103 lim guan eng "Lim (right) should come clean on the relationship between him, (his landlady) and the company which won the tender (for the) Taman Manggis (land)," said H'ng, the state BN information chief at a press conference today.

While Malaysiakini was unable to obtain Ms P’s comments, her family and her cousin - state executive councillor Phee Boon Poh - have come to her defence.

Phee, who is Sungai Puyu assemblyperson, said the BN has caused enough trouble for Ms P and her family.

"By revealing details about her and linking her to Lim, is the BN implying that she is corrupt?" he asked.

"Their insinuations - revealing (information) part by part - are leading to character defamation and imply that she made her money not through her ability, but political connections.”

phee boon poh 140708 Phee (left) said her family has been under much stress, and urged the BN to clearly state what they want from her.

"Enough is enough," he said, cautioning the state opposition from dragging Ms P or her family into a political agenda in which Lim is their target.

"By saying these things, they are also implying there is some kind of relationship between Lim and his landlady, which is not true. They are going nowhere with this.

"They have no evidence that she is on the board of the company which bid and won the Taman Manggis land. Don't go beyond point of no return. We will not hesitate to take action against them.”

‘Waiting for Lim’s response’

H'ng noted that Lim has yet to answer allegations of “wastage, conflict of interest and corruption" in renting a two-storey, fully furnished bungalow in Jalan Pinhorn for personal use.

Lim is paying rental of RM5,000 a month, as he is entitled to a RM4,000 housing allowance as chief minister. He is paying the balance from personal funds.

The Gerakan duo have refused to apologise, insisting that they have spoken the truth in claiming that the tenancy agreement for the house had been doctored, and said they are willing to face legal action. Tan has told Lim not to waste time suing him.

Lim had earlier shown a photocopy of the agreement in which the name of the house owner had been obscured for privacy.

After being queried as the stamp could not be clearly seen, the CM revealed the a clearer copy yesterday to show the presence of the stamp.
