The Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry will investigate the claim made by Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua that National Aerospace and Defence Industries (Nadi) has not submitted its audited accounts since 2007.

Another company alleged to have not filed its audited accounts since Dec 31, 2006, is YGP Holdings Sdn Bhd, where Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar and Kota Belud MP Abdul Rahman Dahlan and Defence Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi are shareholders.

Its minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said there was no question in favouritism in looking into a complaint.

"We only know (about it) now and we will investigate. We will investigate if we receive a complaint. We do not choose anyone (in conducting investigations)," Ismail told reporters after distributing 1Malaysia Graduate discount cards in Petaling Jaya today.

NONE Pua said on Monday that Nadi, a partner in Malaysia's latest budget airline Malindo Airways, has not filed its audited accounts since 2007.

"Nadi failed to file its audited accounts since Dec 31, 2007, and yet the government last month granted its subsidiary a licence to operate an airline in Malaysia, launched by none other than Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak himself.

"The company's chairperson, Gen (Rtd) Mohd Hashim Mohd Ali, is a brother in-law of (former premier) Dr Mahathir Mohamad," Pua said.

The DAP parliamentarian raised the matter in light of the the actions against human rights NGO Suaram, particularly by the Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM).

‘No company to escape enforcement’

Commenting on the investigations into Suara Inisiatif Sdn Bhd and Suaram, Ismail said it will take action on any companies registered with CCM as there are no companies which will escape the enforcement net.

“I do not want the people to think the action against Suara Inisiatif is related to Suaram. We can take action based on complaints. What is Suara Inisiatif’s significance, until no one can touch it?

According to Ismail, on average every year, 200 companies are being investigated and action is being taken against them.

“If I take action on 200 companies and I don’t act on others then people will accuse me of favouritism. This is our country and we have to preserve it,” he said.

On another unrelated matter, Ismail said the shortage of diesel being experienced now was due to delivery problems.

"There are problems in Johor, Perak and other areas and this is due to distribution. There are also issues related to quota. But this is being resolved. We have also met with some of the petrol dealers recently," he said.
