The Shah Alam Sessions Court has fixed Dec 3 for mention of the trial of PKR director of strategy Mohd Rafizi Ramli, who was charged with disclosing confidential banking details related to the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) scandal.

 

The court set another date for mention as the presiding judge, Aslam Zainuddin, was on leave.

 

The mention today was heard in front of Asmadi Husin, another Session Court judge.

 

Rafizi’s counsel Latheefa Koya has asked for a later date for the next mention, as her client’s striking-out application was taking place in a higher court.

She said the High Court has set Oct 24 for the case management date of the striking-out application.

 

Latheefa told reporter later that the prosecution would have to file an affidavit-in-reply at the latest by the next mention date.

 

NONE On Aug 1, Rafizi ( centre in photo ) was charged under the Banking and Financial Institutions Act (Bafia) with having disclosed the financial accounts held in Public Bank to two reporters.

 

Former Public Bank clerk Johari Mohamad was also charged with alleged abetment under Section 112(1)(c) of Bafia.

Both of them claimed trial, and they are liable for three years’ imprisonment and a RM3 million fine if convicted.

On Sept 10, Rafizi, through his counsel, had filed a motion to quash the Bafia charges against him.
