Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has denied allegations that the Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM) has not acted against companies found to have violated the Companies Act 1965.

NONE Sabri said this in response to the query from Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua ( left ) during Parliament sitting yesterday on CCM’s inaction against the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC), Yayasan Gerakbakti Kebangsaan (YGK) as well as National Aerospace and Defence Industries Sdn Bhd (Nadi), which Pua claimed did not submit their audited accounts and annual reports.

“We already sent notices to the NFC, YGK and Nadi,” Ismail told reporters after witnessing the handing over ceremony of vans to mosques, religious schools and orphanages at Bank Rakyat in Kuala Lumpur.

He said CCM had completed its probe into the NFC and had submitted its report to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for further action.

As for YGK, Ismail he said CCM was sending a compound to the company while Nadi had yet to pay the summons that had been issued to it.

“Normally the companies will appeal for discounts on penalties when they submit their outstanding reports,” Ismail added.

NONE In early September, Pua claimed that former cabinet minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil's ( right, in photo ) family-own NFC had violated the Act as it had granted personal loans to its directors and failed to hold its annual general meetings.

At the same time, Pua also alleged YGK, which is owned by Umno Youth and with its chief Khairy Jamaluddin and Umno's Kota Belud MP Abdul Rahman Dahlan as directors, has never filed its accounts since 2009.

On Oct 1, Pua named Nadi , which is a partner in the country's newest budget airline Malindo Airways, as another company that had breached the Companies Act by not filing its audited accounts since 2007.
