Tourism Minister Ng Yen Yen has refused to shed light on speculation that she had instructed an emcee to invite South Korean mega-star Psy to join a yee sang tossing session that went awry.

NONE The BN leaders had clapped and waited on stage for Psy for five minutes, but he did not join the session.

This was despite the emcee’s repeated invitation during the at the Penang BN’s Chinese New Year open house last Monday.

It was later alleged that “a minister” had instructed the emcee to issue the ad hoc invitation.

According to China Press , Ng yesterday dismissed the claim that she was the minister concerned, only saying “that is DAP’s speculation”.

In another related development, Penang police chief Abdul Rahim Hanafi had yesterday produced the death threat text message sent by Psy's manager to the police, to prove that there was indeed a death threat against the superstar, which stopped him from joining the yee sang toss.

NONE However, DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang ( right ) has said that it failed to explain the fiasco based on what had happened on the stage that day.

“Why had the prime minister, former prime minister and cabinet ministers have to undergo the public embarrassment and indignity of having to wait forlornly at the stage for over five minutes for Psy to join them, only to sheepishly leave the stage when the ceremony had not been completed - which is regarded as a bad omen by many?”

He said that the manner in which the dignitaries left the stage without the completion of the ceremony with all of them looking more shame-faced, rather than in panic modes because of the police’s alert, has only turned the episode into a public joke.

“The Penang BN organisers are only proving the veracity of the saying that you have to tell a thousand lies to cover up one lie.”
