Two soldiers killed in Sabah promoted to full Corporal

He said the compensation to be paid to parents of the late Ahmad Hurairah Ismail, 24, and Ahmad Farhan Ruslan, 21, would be made according to several service benefits.
The payment demonstrated the concern of the Defence Ministry, the armed forces and the people of Malaysia for the soldiers who had died in the incident, he told reporters at the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Base in Subang today.
Also present to give his last respects to the two national heroes was Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
Ahmad Hurairah was the first Malaysian Armed Forces personnel killed since the intrusion by the terrorists in Sabah began on Fen 12.
So far, 10 members of the security forces had died in the incident following the intrusion by the armed terrorists, while 56 of the enemies had been shot dead.
Ahmad Hurairah, from Pasir Mas, Kelantan died in an exchange of fire at 10.45am yesterday while Ahmad Farhan Ruslan, who was from Pasir Tumbuh, Kota Baharu, Kelantan died in an accident at Jalan Tungku, Kampung Bakapit, Lahad Datu at 7.30am yesterday.
Meanwhile, Army Chief Gen Zulkifli Zainal Abidin said the parents of both soldiers who were killed would receive derivative pensions of about RM2,500.
He said they would also receive other benefits amounting to almost RM170,000, including group insurance from the Armed Forces Fund Board.
The bodies of both soldiers arrived at the RMAF Base, near Subang at 8am and were flown to the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport, Pengkalan Chepa in Kota Baharu at 8.45am for burial at their respective hometowns.
