For the second day in a row in Perak, the authorities have stopped PAS' campaign truck while it was on its campaign rounds.

NONE The vehicle was held up last night in Kamunting, Taiping and again this afternoon near Bandar Seri Iskandar, some 40km from Ipoh.

Perak PAS deputy chief Asmuni Awi ( left ) said the truck was stopped by the Road Transport Department (RTD) and the police when the convoy was traveling from Pengkalan Pegoh in Gopeng to Bandar Seri Iskandar.

The programme, which is called ‘Jelajah Negara Berkebajikan’, is a four-day campaign from March 26 to 29, with Larut, Taiping, Lenggong, and Tanjung Malim among the stops in the itinerary.

In addition, it is noted that comedian Bob Lokman and former Perak MB Mohd Nizar Jamaluddin would be making special appearances during the programme as well.

Asmuni, who is also a lawyer, suspects that the authorities wanted to delay the party truck from arriving at the scheduled times in the programme.

The Perak PAS deputy chief said the trailer had been released after an hour's delay time.

"I myself do not know what they want to inspect. The police and the RTD did not indicate (their reasons for) stopping us.

NONE "I think it was directed at delaying the party from going to a programme, as in a short while, the truck would be used in a ceramah in Bandar Seri Iskandar.

"The authorities conducted a normal check, inspecting the tyres and others.

"Nothing else happened, the incident only delayed us from reaching our destination," he said, adding that they were also stopped in Kamunting, Taiping the night before.

Last night, according to Asmuni, they were stopped by the Federal Reserve Unit.

It was reported that PAS launched its war truck last month, which has been used as stages for their campaigning efforts.
