'Naughty and dishonest'? What say you, MACC?

YOURSAY 'MACC will close the file because Taib refuses to cooperate. Since when do the authorities need a criminal's cooperation before they can investigate?'

Taib: I won't cooperate with naughty, dishonest MACC

your say Tholu: Sarawak CM Abdul Taib Mahmud dares to say he will not cooperate with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) because he knows that all the other leaders in BN are protected by MACC from corruption charges.

What he actually means, and rightly so, is that unless MACC acts justly and consistently on all people reported for corruption, it (MACC) has no justification and morality to investigate him.

It is this that makes him so bold as to say that MACC is "naughty and dishonest". It is therefore seen as biased and selective in its actions and this can be proved by equally powerful but corrupt people such as Abdul Taib Mahmud himself.

That is where he gets his arrogance and dare defy against all government agencies.

In the final analysis, if the government enforcement agencies, such as the police, judiciary, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and Registrar of Societies (ROS) are selective and biased in their investigations, our country will be on the brink of certain collapse.

As the saying goes, "A fish rots from the head."

Hplooi: And the most damaging crime Taib Mahmud has committed is the crime against mother nature. His egregious acts rob Sarawakians and mankind of their heritage - the oldest rainforest in the world.

In the wake of his rapacity are destroyed land, dispossessed natives and a people bereft of wealth.

His wealth extends to his clan - which includes Canadians and currently a Lebanese. All these clan-members (foreign and native-born) are but blood suckers, who (especially the foreign-newly-inducted) even now are probably stripping as much assets as possible before the inevitable lynching by the people.

So Sarawakians, your natural wealth exist only to feed a king-set-over-you. And to the world, the so-called exploitation do not benefit the natives but leave them poorer.

More damaging is the extensive ruins inflicted on the world eco-system of which Sarawak is an important carbon-sink of the world.

SamYap: Finally, he shows his true colours. It seems like he is more powerful than PM Najib Razak.

Lim Chong Leong: MACC will close the file because Taib refuses to cooperate. Since when do the authorities need a criminal's cooperation before they can investigate?

They should just arrest him already based on the mountains of evidence at hand but they won't act because Taib refuses to cooperate. Well, wait until after GE13.

Selaginella: MACC, ‘demi agama, bangsa dan negara', please investigate Taib now. Don't forget to lock all the windows. We want truth, not another dead body.

Bender: When I read this news article, I felt like I was watching a mafia-themed movie and Taib, the main character, is one badass mafia boss who's facing the lawman and he's trying to bullshit his way through.

And like a real mafia boss, he's bad, through and through, but because he knows how to play the game and thinks the law doesn't apply to him, and he thinks he's got nothing to worry about.

I just hope this movie doesn't end up with the big bad wolf dying of natural causes without ever seeing a big showdown.

FellowMalaysian: Taib Mahmud showed his typical brazen character in dismissing MACC's investigation of him over graft. His arrogance and indignation will not stop the truth from being told.

He had to remind Najib and the ruling government of his invaluable contribution in helping BN won over two-thirds of seats in Sarawak and naively asked "and they do not care about this thing?"

He also claimed that the investigation will cause little dent on voters' support and had been reported as intending to stand once again in the upcoming election even though he had promised two years ago that the 2011 state election was his last and Najib was besides him then when he spoke.

An example of promises fulfilled? We'll get to see soon.

GempurRasuah: Now that Taib the one-eyed king in the land of the blind has arrogantly challenged MACC to investigate him on the allegations of corruption and abuse of power against him, so MACC, the ball is now in your court.

The whole world, not just Malaysians, are watching you.

Hacks: "I am a liability? I won the last election with more than two-thirds majority and they do not care about this thing."

"Do not care about this thing" means: Last time Najib and BN didn't care about his corruption.

"Let them victimise me... Let them do what they want as long as they are fair, I am not scared."

"As long as they are fair" means: To also investigate Najib, Dr Mahathir Mohamad, etc. If not, he won't be scared as they are also corrupt.

Until MACC acts justly, Taib will stay untouchable
