YOURSAY 'Indelible ink will not stain the ballot paper. EC, we now believe you. It won't stain our finger, too!'
Ink used on voter's index finger is NOT indelible
Mahashitla:
This washable indelible ink for the advance voters is going to raise the question of phantom voters taking to the polls to vote again on polling day to a much higher probability.
The Election Commission (EC) must quickly take action, otherwise the whole exercise of spending millions to prevent double voting will be just a mockery.
Mr KJ John: If this is true; the EC chairperson Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof must resign - for all his big talk and keeping the ink colour secret. Why? They have used it in India and other nations, so why this potential failure?
Anonymous_3e86: That was the reason why the ink was a "top secret" item a few days ago. The EC thought that the police and army personnel would keep silent on the sub-standard ink.
But there are of course many police and army personnel who are pro-opposition as well. Now the cat is out of the bag.
Lin Wenquan: If this is true, the public has every right to be outraged for been taken for a ride by an immoral and devious EC who will go the distance to connive and abet BN in cheating the rakyat.
Despite requests for a public dry-run of the quality and characteristics of the ink and the pros and cons of staining the finger before or after casting the ballot papers, EC was adamant and insisted on the results based on their internal tests.
What integrity and transparency can EC now brag of. The game plan is perhaps to shelf the idea altogether and allow the ‘efficient' police to investigate. And lo and behold, election day will be upon us without the inking process being implemented.
The next round of denials will be to accuse the ink supplier of short changing EC. And it will be back to square one for Bersih and us.
A devious plan but juvenile execution. Our hope for a safeguard against fraud is so effortlessly washed away.
Abasir: How was the ink procured? Did anyone check its properties before and after delivery or was it such a great secret that no one knew what they were buying?
This is yet another reason the utterly incompetent leaders running this country be thrown out for good. Indelible? The only thing indelible is the scorn and contempt we have for this regime of rogues.
Vote4Change: Indelible ink will not stain the ballot paper. EC, we now believe you. It won't stain our finger, too!
LittleGiant: It is extremely disappointing to note that the indelible ink to be used by the EC on election day, just five days from now, is not indelible. This claim that the ink is removable within hours with the use of soap or thinner warrants immediate investigation.
This is a serious and a highly urgent issue for the EC to resolve and it cannot just pass the buck to the police. The EC should do whatever it takes to prove to the rakyat that the indelible ink is really indelible.
That is the only way that EC can keep whatever remaining of its already heavily battered image.
Skong: Even primary students will do some tests to check if the ink is indelible before using it. These are basic procedures for any devices before being used.
How can they make such a blunder in such an important matter. What exactly have they being doing over the last couple of years?
Changelah: From the beginning, the EC chairperson had refused to show the proof of the validity of the ink.
He has been giving a thousand excuses to the rakyat and pretending that the ink is such a great thing to be even shown to the opposition or even BN for their scrutiny.
Now even a child can see the EC is actually cheating the rakyat. Let us wait for more proof to nail EC chief. There are good lawyers in this nation to do the job.
Fair&Just: What is the sinister motive or intention behind the fact that the indelible ink can be removed in a few hours? Is it that the ink is of low quality? So who is pocketing the difference in price?
Or is it that the ink can be removed so that the voter can vote again where there are so many cases of voters having the same name in the electoral roll, like pro-BN blogger Papagomo ?
Truth Really Hurts: The EC probably bought one part fresh indelible ink and diluted or mix it with nine parts of expired indelible ink so as not to waste the old stock purchased at the last election five years ago. Waste not.
Rayfire: This will just another brick on top of the EC grave whose credibility has long been buried. Please for heaven sake, let this not be the case, otherwise all the hogwash about having clean elections will fade into oblivion.
If it is a confirmed case, it seriously calls for reconsideration of its use and thereafter immediate action taken against those who authorised the supplier and purchase of it. This include the top honcho of course.
Appum: Anyone know who the supplier is? Maybe we can get some answer from them. In the meantime, EC chief owes us an explanation or at least a demonstration to verify the truth.
R1: "Boast and boast only to fail in the end. Can't you goons do anything right?" This must be what caretaker PM Najib Abdul Razak is thinking when he heard this.
On a serious note, this is bad. If the same ink is used this Sunday, fraud can happen, and will happen.
Delible ink - incompetency of EC knows no limits
